Let Your Light Shine

MIM this week with Laurie Wilison, showing us how she
masks her backgrounds. Her video, is full of
Laurie masking tricks, such as tape to use and how to best
apply your die cut sentiment.

See it here:

I love the effects you can get doing the masking, using color,
arranging the mask to suit your stamps.

I used the Guiding Lights stamp set and masked the front, both for border
and to showcase the light.
What the Doodle: Waves die and stamps.
Laurie added water droplets, didn't think I needed them, so left them out.
Americana and Stormy Sea Inks.
Sponging done with Spring Rain, Aqua Mist, Harvest Gold.
Love the sentiments in this set, especially this one!

  3. This is amazing, Nancy. I love lighthouses and they were one of the best parts of our vacation last year to the south eastern part of the country. We hit every coast from Virginia to Florida and then up through the gulf. We saw a lot of lighthouses.

  4. Beautiful, beautiful card Nancy! Your masked background is so pretty, and you'll get a chuckle out of this: I thought your What the Doodle: Wave was a picture of the actual die laying on top of your card for photo purposes until I looked closer and realized you had used gray cardstock and ink on your die cut! :0) But anyway, totally in love with this card...great job!!

  10. Love the masked beams of light! Perfect! The die cut waves are the perfect finishing touch. I am never sure of how to ground the lighthouses, so this is a great idea. It's quite dramatic, too.
