MIM #309 with Melissa

Hello! Enjoying some create time today. We've had 2 days of much needed rain here in
the Central Valley, and it's a perfect excuse to stay home and make cards.

Melissa Phillips is up this week at PTI, and has a wonderful tutorial for us,
Heat Embossed Stencil Backgrounds.
You can see her video and gorgeous creations using this technique on PTI's blog.

I made 2 cards, the first, have to admit, wasn't a favorite, so came up with one I
liked better. Sometimes, if you have the time, it's better to keep going until it pleases.

So here's the first.

I created my own stencil using Coverplate: Gemstone Die & vellum, and embossed it with silver
on an Amethyst Allure cardstock.

Beautiful Butterflies & Beautiful Butterflies Additions, with a hint of Wink of Stella.
Sentiment: New Every Morning.
The antenna are wires I shaped and curled at the ends.

But, like I said, wanted to try this technique again, so brought out the Market Street kit,
and did my bg with one of PTI's stencils: Wood Block Prints

Heat embossed in Zing's Rose, with a little inking (Spring Rain & Blueberry Sky.)
Like this better, maybe because the message can be extended.

I love interactive cards right now. Sliders, and hidden messages and pop up boxes. All such fun
for the recipient! Not to mention fun for me who makes them!

Happy crafting everyone!

And want to thank all who sent prayers my way on behalf of my mom.
Quick note on her condition, my sister and I were advised to bring in hospice care at this time, and they've been wonderful! So thankful for their caring kindness!
She continues to hang in there, with so many issues.
One of the reasons I love you all is our sharing and caring, and especially prayers!
Just wanted to say, 'thanks'.

MIM #206 Stamping and Mixing Patterns

This week's MIM is sheer joy!
Loving patterns and layers, it tickles to have Danielle
show us how and what and some of her tricks to create magic on a card.

1st off, create a coordinating set of papers.
Danielle suggested starting with the larger imaged paper.

Danielle's signature style is using bright clear colors,
and I tried to keep that look when I chose yellows, aquas, and Berry Sorbet.
The large group of daisies is from Friendship Jar Fillers, and the smaller posies
from Brushed Blooms.
First stamped the daisies and colored them with Loew Cornell Watercolors.
Smaller triple blooms stamped in Hero Arts Wet Cement.

I ended up with 5 stamped papers, just because I was in my happy place doing them!
Didn't use all 5 in my card, but I have plenty do 3 more cards for sure!
Starting on left, Arrows from Heather's new Noted set,
so is the grey chevron pattern, splashed with Yellows.
Top patterns from Happy Trails,  and Melon Berry dots from Polka Dot Basics.

Used 3 of the 5 pattern papers, and a cutout of the daisies.
Also added a fussy cut of the top daisy.
Had some tags from Cuppa Love die left over from the Blog Hop, so stamped a heart
from Bubble Talk in Aqua Mist, and 'you're Super' in Smokey Shadow.
Glossy Accents on the daisy centers.
Can't wait to do this again with other stamps!
Like I said, pure joy!
You need to see Danielle's video, to catch her tips, here:

MIM # 205: Confetti Cluster Stamping

This week's MIM's video has Lizzie Jones showing us how to
'Cluster Stamp'.
Delightfully easy, it creates an image from a stencil to
add interest to our cards.
11 grandchildren has me whipping up fun cards for every holiday.
I used the Figure of Speech Frame die to outline,
and stamped Easter wishes and colors within.

Hippity Hoppity bunny, chick and eggs, and some of that set's sentiments.
Cuppa Love: dots & flowers.
Etched Easter Eggs: words
Butterfly Kisses: dots & daisy
PTI Inks: Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise, Sweet Blush, Hibiscus Burst, Lavender Moon,
Plum Pudding, Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, & Limeaid Ice

MIM #202: Anchoring With Border & Banner Dies & Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge

Did someone say layering?
Loving layers as I do, Melissa Phillips' MIM video
set me spinning with stamps, dies, inks, watercolors,
and even embossing!

Background was watercolored, then while still wet,
stamped some ferns from Meadow Greens.
Then came the layers.
Flowers and leaves from Cutting Garden stamped with Berry Sorbet & Pure Poppy.
Leaves are Simply Chartreuse, tipped with Summer Sunrise, Melon Berry & Ripe Avocado.
Melissa had the most beautiful creation, with her layered butterfly,
so I had to try one from Life is Beautiful.
Border die from Confetti Garland, embossed.
I looked everywhere for the name of the top loopy dies, couldn't find it. They came from
my scrap stash.
Top button die in felt.
Sentiment from Banner Sentiments.
That's about it. As for mailing, it has so many ups and downs, better hand deliver this one!

Catch Melissa's video here, she never disappoints!

PTI's MIM #195: A la Carte

50 Make It Mondays, this year, with the last challenge to pick
one you might not have tried.
Happily I participated in all 50!
It's been wonderful every Monday as I look forward to joining with Papertrey's
talented designers and bloggers and share in design, execution and comment
with so many!

is the one I chose to do over,
and it was not easy to choose from so many great videos!
I used Feather Finery the first time around as well, but this time mounted my gold
dipped feathers on a Cover Plate, over an inked background (Winter Wisteria & Spring Rain).
Sentiment is from the set, and embossed onto vellum.
All cardstock, PTI.

Happy New Year, my blogging friends!

MIM #189: Impression Line Water Coloring

Played with some new dies and Erin's MIM video
on Impression Line Water Coloring.

Her lovely bloom was perfection, but I needed a masculine
birthday card, which I always put off making.

I impressed Star Shaker die, and a star that's in the set, and included the confetti star maker.
The center of the star cut out when I ran it through, but I liked it, so I added some
glitter to a piece from Make It Market, Shakers & Sprinkles Pattern Pack.
I actually had Twinkling H2O's, which gave the neatest sheen to the stars.
'Shine' was cut from Sparkle and Shine Words and a glitter paper I found at Michael's.
Sketched Stars cut from shimmer gold.

MIM #186: Partial Die Stamping

The hardest thing about this week's MIM with Laurie
is deciding which die to use.
I started with a word die and wasn't happy with results,
so started over with Shaker Shape: Ornament.

Well, back up, started with the holiday bg paper I had from last year.
It helped with colors and simple flowers from Songbirds.
Basic Bookmark 2, Sparkle & Shine: Sequins.
Inks: Pure Poppy, Classic Kraft, Limeaid Ice, New Leaf and Ultimate Metallic Gold
Last is the Joy from Wet Paint Holiday.
The tag and sentiment are cut from Shimmer card stock.
How fun are these new shaker dies!!!

This time I added more snow, like it better!

Fusion Challenge Sunflowers & MIM #183 & Virginia's View Challenge

Fusion Challenge has this autumn inspiration:

I combined the two (photo and sketch),
for this card:

I think it was Heather Nichols that used the bleach technique for a
PTI Make It Monday.
I love doing it! Allows for coloring on a dark card stock,
such as the Enchanted Evening I used.
Colored with watercolors.
PTI: Botanical Blocks, Fancy That
Quatrefoil die
Zing EP: Mustard
PTI Cardstocks

Also posting in PTI's MIM this week with Dawn;
Dry Emboss over Heat Emboss

Make It Monday #183: Dry Embossing Over Heat Embossing

edited to add to Virginia's View Challenge #8
I think it's Clean and Simple, so adding to
