Simple Stitched Stems with Michelle Leone

This week's MIM at PapertreyInk features Michelle Leone, and her very first
video tutorial, Simple Stitched Stems.
Michelle's addition of a bit of handwork gives a personal touch to a card.

Some of you know I lost my mom in February. I know many other special moms, including
daughters, daughters In Law, aunts and friend-moms to give a MD card to.
My stitched stems were made easy with a PTI die set called Stitching Lines.

Bigger Blooms supplied my flowers and Shape Shifters: Oval provided the frame and leaves for
my posies.

I loved doing a bit of sewing on my card, and did one more while the stamps and dies
were handy.

For these leaves, I used my copics. I made the dots with Viva Glass Effect Gel in Blackberry.

Mother

Made a card for my mom, following the tutorial at Papertrey's MIM,
with Laurie Schmidlin, and her very first video.
Laurie did a fabulous job showing us
2 ways to do a watercolor background for our cards.
Confession time, I've done watercolors for years, even
taught watercolors to elementary students, so this is not
new to me, but always learn something playing along with MIM.
Loved doing this card, as it's for a very special mom!

Starting with Ranger Watercolor Cardstock, I taped down my card,
then applied a wash of clear water. Using the Kuretake Pan colors, I
mixed blues, yellows and greens to get the color wash I wanted.
The trick to watercolors, as Laurie said, is to apply lights first,
then layer after or during drying.
I cut the die cover plate from Make It Market: Garden Gild,
and held it over the watercolor card to determine where color should be.
The word, 'Mother' is from an old PTI set, Mother, and sorry to say
it's now in the vault.
Flowers and leaves from Delightful Dahlia Additions.
PTI Inks:
Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Tropical Teal, Green Parakeet.
I colored the rhinestones with copic YG23.
I haven't used rhinestones in so long, lately using sequins, which mail better,
but this card will be hand delivered.

Fusion Card Challenge

Playing along with Fusion,
where the challenge is to use the photo or sketch or both,
which I did.

Oh those colors!
Came as close as I could with what I had,
but not satisfied, even with embossing powder.
Looks like a good excuse to visit my favorite stamp stores!

Cut a watercolor panel, and stamped spritzed flowers,
and added watercolors for more intensity.
