A Tunnel Card

Have you ever made a tunnel card? Laurie asks us to choose our favorite layout in
this week's 'Laurie's Fabulous Favorites' with PTI.

My favorite layout is one that hi lights a sentiment. But I also love to use
elements to showcase a theme. Such as I've done here, with my sea theme.

I used the Salt Air: Flora & Fauna sets on a tunnel card I learned from Jennifer McGuire
and her YouTube post here: jennifer mcguire tunnel card.

 Here's the inside:

This is so much fun to make. All the elements dance in perspective as you open the
card. But when closed it becomes flat enough to slip into an envelope.

Here's what it looks like when it's opened.

It's so easy to follow Jennifer as she explains the steps involved to assemble a tunnel card.

It's become a favorite layout for a card.
Hope you give it a try. think you'll love it as much as I do.

Happy crafting!

MIM with Michelle: Petite Pattern Play

Michelle Leone shows us how to create pattern in our background on this
Monday's tutorial at PTI.

I loved this easy and quick way to make an impact on our cards.
Out came the new Orchid Expressions. I played with the flowers, changing
the colors of the petals. The options are endless!

I think I used every shade of PTI ink! Really easy to stamp with my Misti.

In case you don't know this little trick, here's a way to stamp a bunch of the same images
quickly and perfectly.
Die cut the image.
Place it back into the cut cardstock, held in place with your misti magnets.
Line up your stamp,
And... stamp! Replace with next die cut, and the image is stamped perfectly,
over and over and over.

This was my favorite orchid color combo. First stamped with Orchid Allure,
then Raspberry Fizz. The blend of the 2 inks made this gorgeous plum on the die cut.

A left over piece from Pierced Feature Frames provided the rectangle
and I drew the inside lines with a pencil.

The butterfly from Quilted: Summer reminded me of a mini block print,
and lined up well within my masked off rectangle.

So quick and easy, I did a 2nd card using kraft, and the 'thank you' setntiment.

Such a fun technique! Can't wait to 'plant' more orchids!

Friends, I'm sure you've heard of the horrific fires here in California.
They say 20% of our state is on fire. Our home is in a valley near Yosemite, where
one fire is close and hardly contained.
Our air is so bad, and the heat doesn't help those poor firefighters.
Please pray for containment, relief from the spread of more destruction,
and especially for those heroes on the front lines.
Thank you!

Celebrate Your Special Day

Above & Below, Lizzy's tutorial this week, at Papertrey's MIM,
shows us how to frame our sentiments with die cuts.
Oh happy day! My order arrived just in time to use some of the new
stamps and dies for my card.

The sentiment is stamped on a strip created with a die from To The Point Edgers 2,
cut with the point down, then turned it around and cut again with the point up.
Love the little windows on that edger die!

I combined 2 sets, Forest Floor: Summer and Herb Garden.

Enjoying the warmup where I live.
Planted some spring color and watching the vegetables ripening.
Just hope the chickens don't eat it before we do!

Happy Crafting!

If you like and want to order any of the stamps, dies or inks you see on my card,

Thank You!

Happy Birthday to You

It's a beautiful day in CA's Central Valley,
Spring is in full bloom here, with warm (not hot!) days.
And the Card Concept has a new challenge for you,
with this photo:

Vintage Tiles, musical backgrounds, lace, birds,
well, you get the idea.
What inspires you?

Take a look at a birthday card I did, using the photo for inspiration.

The lacy frame is a stencil from PTI's Lovely Lace,
inked with Ranger's Distress Oxide: Iced Spruce & Vintage Photo.
I LOVE the way those inks blend, and the colors they create,
when overlapped.
The birds, flowers, musical birthday score
and leafy branch are from Songbirds, one of my PTI favorites.

Enjoy your Spring day, (hopefully it's as beautiful as mine)
and visit the Card Concept Challenge Blog for more inspiration!

Tulip Birthday

Do you have a favorite PTI floral set?
Papertrey's 10th Anniversary Celebration has a daily party
featuring their new releases.
This challenge we are asked to create a new card with our all time
favorite floral set.

Tulip Time is right up there in
my top favorites. Also had to include a background
of Gathered Garden greenery and flowers.
During the release of Garden Greenery, I saw a card made
by Betsy Veldman using the 2 sets together.
Loved the effect of creating a bouquet, with the pop of bright tulips.

Trying to complete my cards by making a custom envelope
to match, while the stamps are handy.

The card tulips are stamped with Hibiscus Burst, Raspberry Fizz,
and Pure Poppy.
The envelope tulips; Sweet Blush, Pale Peony, & Lovely Lady.
The triple stamping intensifies the color and depth.
These tulips are certainly one of my favorites from PTI.
But don't hold me to ruling out any of the other florals!
There are so many to love!

With Love

Make It Monday this week, with Melissa Phillips and
Masked Heart Wreaths.
Melissa's video can be seen on Nichole's blog, here:

Melissa suggests other shapes to use as a mask, but
love the heart shape for my birthday message, and masked with Limitless Layers: Heart.

Love this simple way to showcase a sentiment!
Plan to do several more using this mask technique.
I cut my mask from copy paper, and when I touched up a few flower
centers, it bled a bit.
Afterwards I remembered Melissa used the heart center
she had left over, and it was card stock. Always follow the instructor!

All the blooms and leaves from the following:
Mini Booms, Bloomin' Cute, & Make It Market: Garden Gild.
Inks: Pure Poppy, Scarlet Jewel, Berry Sorbet, Pale Peony, & Prairie Grass.
Noted: A1 Die
Pale Peony Cardstock.

Birthday for Noelle

Getting in a quick post for PTI's Make it Monday with Ashley.

A birthday card for my granddaughter, Noelle.
Yes, she's a Christmas baby!
We have 3 in December, right around Christmas Day.
Loved this tutorial by Ashley, using a photo and Clear Cardstock.

I was privilaged to attend an award's ceremony to honor Noelle,
and several others. She was so proud to get a double award
for grades and 'caring'.

Happy Birthday to You

Through some blogging friends, I found a new challenge,
new for me anyway, called Inspired by All the Little Things.

The challenge photo, a bridal bouquet with roses and succulents,
was too good to pass up!

PTI's Delightful Dahlias reminded of the cabbage rose like succulents,
and I let the bouquet shape define my card.
PTI Cover Plate: Pretty Frame
PTI Cardstock: Stampers Select, Aqua Mist, Soft Stone
Embellished Elegance Leaves and sentiment
PTI Inks: Aqua Mist, Ocean Tides, Stormy Sea, Soft Stone,
Melon Berry, Berry Sorbet, Scarlett Jewel
Thanks to Michele Leone for the sequins and seed beads,
given in her kit for 12 Kits of Occasions posting tomorrow!
