PTI June Blog Hop '18

Hello everybody! It's the 25th and that means time for a blog hop.
PapertreyInk's Blog Hop, where our inspiration was this photo of
riotous color!

Now when I see an inspiration photo, sometimes I go for mood or
certain items, sometimes a color scheme or style, but today I went literal...
those colorful popsicles!

The only way to come close to those wow colors was Lindy's Magicals. My
friend Marcia Hill (Marcia's Stamping Pad) introduced them to me,
and it's been love ever since!

In each little powder filled jar, there's a bit of mica flakes. I wish you could
really see the shine! Magical!

Play along all day on the PTI blog. Besides the fun of creating, playing and
commenting, you're sure to be amazed at the scope of fabulous posts. So
much fun to see how we were all inspired!
See you at the hop!

My supplies used are listed below. If you click on what you like
it'll take you to the PTI item in the store.

note: The stampset, Summer Sweetness is no longer available in the PTI store.
(Hopefully it's in your stash!)

Graffiti Word Art with Lexi Daly

Lexi Daly has a tutorial on the PapertreyInk blog this week, creating
Graffiti Word Art

My PTI word dies didn't come close to being 'graffiti-esque', but I came closest with
the happy from Paper Clippings: Birthday.
I started with a few other dies, and worked Lexi's steps on them, but was happiest with
the Paper Clippings die.

I really liked Lexi's word, 'fly'. The shape and font was perfect for the challenge.
I'm afraid the words I had are a bit frilly to call them graffiti.
But the technique works well with die and stamped word.

Love the little bit of sheen the clear embossing gives the word.

I GA'ed the candle flames and balloon.

If you like any of the products I used, you can find them below.
Just click on them and you'll be directed to the PTI product in the store.

MIM: Stenciled Edges

Lizzie shows us how to 'stencil our edges' this week on MIM.

I stenciled the edges of my A2 card base with the awning striped stencil from
the Market Street, Make it Market.
First inking the yellow vertically then turning the stencil horizontally and inking
it again with Mint Julep.
(I can't remember which designer showed this technique during release,
But I love it! Creates a big bold plaid!)
Maybe now as subtle as Lizzie's tutorial, think I got a bit heavy handed!
Then, as Lizzie did, I cut off close to 1/8" on all edges to soften.

When I cut the Shape Shifter Oval die out, I purposely glued down only the
center, so the top and bottom stood out slightly.

It was the first time using Fresh Bouquet, and it's already a favorite.

Sentiment is from Penned Elegance.

HLS August Watercolor Challenge

Happy August 1st, everybody!
It's time for a new watercolor challenge at Happy Little Stampers

It's an 'Anything Goes' challenge, and this time the twist is: Bloom!
Want some inspiration?

Going with the 'twist' this month, and die cut my blooms from
Poppy Stamps just released die, Chinese Lanterns.
I let my colors blend on the die cut watercolor paper,
then adhered it to a die cut and loosely watercolored PTI: Mix & Mat Postal Die.
Popped it all up with foam, and watercolored bottom layer, for my birthday card
sentiment: HLS: Especially For You

Can't wait to see what you do with this challenge!

Envelope for a handmade card.

In my previous post, I showed you a card for my aunt's birthday,
with a gift card inside.
We are challenged to complete our cards with some creative
packaging, such as an envelope, all ready to mail.

I made an envelope from PTI's Pale Peony Designer Cardstock,
a Memory Keepers 1-2-3 Punchboard,
and stamps from Color Pop Florals, and a frame stamp
from Monthly Moments: Travel Plans.

Do you have people in your life that love your crafty card making?
My aunt, my dad's only sister, loves my cards. She keeps every one!
Whenever I visit, she takes me on a tour of my cards on display!
And I can't think of a better reason to make her cards and yes, her
envelopes extra special!

I stamped the back of the large dot Peony card stock, before using my envelope punch,
then folded and glued the flaps.
I love doing custom envelopes to match a card. A bit extra work,
but well worth the effort!
