MIM #76 Double-time Bleach Stamping

This was a fun Monday Make.
We were to choose the stamp of our choice and instead of a stamppad, use a "bleach" pad.
Then use the stamp again, this time with the ink pad of our choice.
Not having done this technique before, I wasn't sure of the outcome.
Aqua mist is not my first try. Other colors produced different result, but I liked the 'cloudy' effect of this one.
A few die cuts from on the farm, some edgers for the hills and a picket fence, all well and good. But it wasn't until the central sunny dies with the red sentiment were added that it came together.
All sewn on a terracotta clay card base.
Tiny chickie is first bleached, then stamped, and then glittered.
I can tell by the entries of others that tried this, a good time was had by all.
Anyone else have a workroom with a lingering bleach smell?

Embellish Magazine's Dry Embossing Challenge

Can't seem to get away from the new 'Sweet Life' Stamp and die set from Papertrey Ink.
This card is for Embellish Magazine's Dry Embossing Challenge.
This was a fun. Used some cuddlebug folders, one for the vase, the other for the lilac background.
Did a little 2nd generation stamping on the inside as well.
Just love the way the roses stamp.

Papertrey Ink July Blog Hop Challenge

How exciting to see a Papertry package on my doorstep Monday afternoon! (It's always exciting to see a package from Papertrey)
Just in time to use 'The Sweet Life' dies and stamps and the 'Fabulous Frames' die for the July Challenge. Almost didn't make it, cuz I'm still working on a couple of badges. (sigh...)
Sweet and simple chartreuse cardbase with a staggard set of frames. Bottom frame is stamped with the smallest Dots 2 stamp set.
A bit of twine and a single button and 'Life is (indeed!) Sweet'.

The End of a Craftful Weekend

More Parting pix of Stamp-a-faire 2012
My little pin doll is wearing my paper bead bracelet.
This card just seems to belong on the shelf next to the antique children's sewing machine.

Have to give a great big shout out and thank you to Nichole Heady and all the fabulous designers at Papertrey Ink. Their efforts throughout the day, week, and really months, planning and pulling off such an amazing project, was appreciated by all who took place.
It felt as if I was right there with all the ladies creating and crafting.
Thank You Papertrey!

Papertrey Ink's Stamp A Faire 2012

It's Papertrey's Stamp-A-Faire!
So excited to be a part of this all day event.
Up at dawn, 5:00 on the west coast, coffee in hand, ready for the meet and greet challenge.
Nichole started us off with a beautiful card from the Natural Beauties Stamp set, given to those who purchased the camp set. Here's my card, really the same, but popped up the last flower on the bottom with foam dots.
Did I mention, my granddaughter Reagan is joining me all morning. She has her own supplies!

Every 2 hrs. each designer presented their tutorial on the challenge given.
8:am, Knots Badge, Ribbon Technique Challenge
I chose to do Betsy Veldman's technique of singeing pieces of ribbon and sewing them together to form a flower.
Here's my finished card.
Did an embossed floral background after the leaves were stamped. Added some twine and adhered to a  melon berry card.
10:am Memory Preservation Badge: Mini Book Challenge.
Let's just say I left this one for last, haven't done it yet!

1:00 pm Craft Conservation Badge: Limited Supply Challenge
Each team member showed their take, I LOVED Dawn's so I went with her layout.
I cut out each flower, as she did, Stamped my flowers, accented with Smokey shadow, and double stamped the sentiment. Let's just say, pleased with the result. Has a nice look.
Thank you Dawn!

2:00 pm Friendship Badge: Beaded Friendship Bracelets
The grandkids joined me in this one.
Nichole gave a great tutorial which helped to speed things along. We each did a bracelet, on stretchy string. Reagan hung a heart charm on hers!
Fun!

4:00 pm Rainbow Badge: Tie-Dye Techniques Challenge
Nichole gave 3 techniques
This is my finished card
I will try the other 2, just didn't have time!

6:00pm Correspondence Badge: Camp Card Set, Challenge
Begun, not done!

8:00 DIY Badge: Homemade Embellishments Challenge
Each of the very tallented designers had a tutorial. I chose Danielle Flanders who made her own Washi tape.

Here's my card
I can't do enough with the Hexagon die and stamp set! Created a card, with a pocket, that holds a homemade tag with a sentiment sewn on. I have many tags in my stash, a trick I learned from one of the designers. Just pop a tag on a card when you're in a hurry. They are useful for many things.
OK, if I had more time, I would have been more careful about which papers I would choose for the washi tapes.
Note: Many of the ladies asked what to adhere them with, I used my running tape. Not really all that pleased. Kinda can see it behind the tape.
Will wait to read what the others did.
That's it for now. Thoroughly and Happily Exhausted!

MIM Roll the die Challenge

Started out to be a fun challenge, by the 3rd try, thought it very challenging!
Here's Why:

Here's what I liked, (fit to show)
Everythings popped up with foam dots to help it stand out.
Truthfully, couldn't fit in the supporting stamp set section,
the colors on the paper pack fit the best, lots going on.
Like I said, 3rd try!
Anyone else think this was fun but hard?
Guess that's whats meant by 'challenge'.
All but the ribbon and pearls from Papertrey Ink.

MIM Challenge #74 Stamping on Texture

Heather Nichols gave the tutorial on Monday.
She showed us how to stamp on a textured or embossed surface.

Once I got started I couldn't stop!
There are actually 3 stamped, textured surfaces used in this card.

The butterfly is melon berry cardstock, inked with canyon clay and stamped with BB tintypes in smokey shadow.

Berry sorbet cardstock was embossed with a damask embossing folder by Crafts-Too, then inked with Pure Poppy and then stamped with background basics farm &barn woodgrain. Loved how this looked, just like drapery.

The 3rd treatment was die cut from stone cardstock which was embossed with a cuttlebug folder, inked with summer sunrise and stamped with BB newsprint. The square limitless layers die was intentionally turned on it's side like a diamond, which fit perfectly within the damask 'drapery'.
Sometimes you get lucky! Sentiment from Lovely Layers stamped on the banner die cut, and, hard to see, but lifted with foam. Button is from my stash... so is the die cut square framing the sentiment.

Tea Party Color Trends challenge

While visiting Ashley Canon Newel's blog, she told us about a challenge hosted by Embellish Magazine. 'Tea Party themed, with sherbert colors. This is my take.
The main stamp is from Stamington, called 'cup collection. Hand colored with copics. Almost everything else is from PTI, with the exception of the white fluted cardstock and the aqua rose button.
If you need more info, I'd be glad to answer.

Challenge #73 Stamping on Patterned Paper

Challenge 73 with Ashley had us stamping on patterned paper. Lots of choices to be made for sure.
Her suggestion was to pick a paper or choose a pattern that wouldn't conflict with our stamp choice.
I stamped a papertrey wood print of melon berry ink on melon berry paper and then stamped fresh snow leaves from PTI's turning a new leaf in the top and bottom corners. My sentiment is from Lighten Up, also from PTI. Die cuts are Mat stack 5, and Lighten Up, really fun to work with by the way. The lamps are raised with foam. Hard to see in the picture. Seam binding and brad finish off the card.
It turned out OK, but several changes I would make include doubling up on the mat stack, and possibly doing the leaves in kraft ink or linen. Maybe twine instead of seam binding?
I am definitely a student of this craft, so please, any suggestions are welcome!
Speaking of suggestions, is there a really good camera out there I should be using? So many elements to think about.
I love the different ideas each of us develop. And I so enjoy each comment and encouragement.
To each one that reads this blog, a happy and safe blessed 4th of July!

Challenge #72 More Embellishments

Well, it's more of the MIM Challenge from Papertrey. Loved Dawn's use of the new Lovely Layers Die and stamp set. Had to try it with red, white and blue. The stamps in this set have great possibilities. So folksy, I had to pair the medallions with quilt like prints.
Would love to hear from you stamping art girls out there. Seems the majority of us loved 'Lovely Layers!'
The medallions work quickly when you die cut a bunch and play with the assembly. The blueberry card base has the most work on both the medallion and the card itself.
That one is going to a daughter Christina and family.

Happy and safe 4th to all!

MIM #72

It's MIM on Nichole's blog. I know, it's Thursday, but I just got around to it!
Dawn did a tutorial on 'Step it up' embellishments. She did 3, starting with simple and
ending in the most embellished.
I instantly thought of tags. They're super to have on hand and stick on a card
base for any occassion. The simpler tags didn't thrill me. So here's tag #3. My
inspiration was a tag done by Heather Nichols.
Just love all the designers with Papertrey.

Melon Berry card base and tag. New terracotta ink stamped with the new
Background Basics Rainbow set, and progressively 'added to'. Can't see it in the pix
But each layer has a foam lift behind it. Sweet velvet daisies have a drop of
Stickles. The zig zag edges are Smokey Shadow die cut from Chevron Stripes. Limitless
layers circle stamped with Tagged Sentiments. Jute twine completes the tag.

Papertrey Ink's June Blog Hop

Challenge was my take on ruffled pillows in aquas and  yellows. Wish I knew how to put the challenge photo up on my blog. Note to self: Learn!

Pulled out all the yellows and aquas I could find. From papers to ribbons, pearls and rhinestones, brads, embossing powder, and stared at all the goodies for a few days.
Why is there so much joy in creating?
Did 3 cards, liked them all, strangely. Of course someelements to change, but rather nice results.
The dies do most of the work, but I handcut the tiny blossoms that are randomly placed and peaking out of the hydrangeas.
Card #1

Almost all PTI products, love their papers, strong cardstock. And the dies! Well, to die for.
Used Happy Hydrangeas, dies and stamps. The flowers were embossed. The leaves stamped in aqua and cartreuse. Always and Forever in Ocean Tides. The yellow edges are from the card insert die.
Card #2

Background Basics stamped in Havest Gold and aqua.
The strip is bordered in yellow, placed on an aqua card base.
Frame is on foam dots, hydrangea pom is embossed and also floats
on the frame. Yellow rose is stamped in Harvest gold and then
hand accented with copics. 2nd rose is embossed with white.
'Hello' is stamed in black, let dry, and then ebossed in white.
Card #3
Yellow card base, with aqua floral paper, popped with Lush blue diamonds.
This time die cuts from Rosy Posy, stamped with ocean tides, and
Aqua. The smaller die cut leaves are popped up with foam squares.
Banner sentiment stamped in 'enchanted evening'.
Thought it needed a bit of twine in the end, and just a little pearl bling.
Would love to hear your comments.
Used a My Mind's Eye paper in my stash called 'Lush Blue Diamonds".

PTI Challenge: Bordered Sentiments

Make it Monday Challenge at PTI! With a housefull of grandchilden, it's amazing I could do one! But it's done, and I like the way it turned out. Even managed to pick a REAL strawberry from the garden to stage the photo. All Papertrey products, except the country check, mini poms and the button. Used some copics to color in the strawberries.
Loving these challenges! Also enjoy the clever cards made by the others.

Pocket Cards

A new challege from PTI! Pocket cards.
Love the idea of a card within a card. The receiver feels extra special.
Just love the previous 'colors' challenge of chartreuse, black and white.

Today is PTI's May Challenge! My first entered challenge.
Finally, some entries for my favorite stamp shop.
Feeling privilaged to post with so many talented card creators!
