MIM #102

Mondays are challenge time at Papertrey, something I try very hard not to miss.
This week, Ashley Newell challenged us to assemble a stamped pillow box or other holding item.
I did a couple of pillow boxes (at the end of this post), but I promised my daughter some thank you cards, handmade by mommy for Christmas. This little item was postponed due to an overwhelmed holiday! Well there's always Valentines, says I, and what better season to say, "I love you sweet daughter!"
Did you know PapertreyInk has packaging called 'My Timeless Templates'?
Among them is my decorated thank you card holder.
All Boxed Up can be purchased as a download for 5.00, and comes with examples and instructions.
It holds 8 cards and 8 envelopes, A2 size.
I used Rustic White Cardstock to do the outside, and Sweet Blush to construct the 2 inside boxes.
Very simple, and makes a great card and envelope holder.
Edges are washi tape.
The front of the box is stamped with an image from Fancy Folk Art (on sweet blush), and Super Stripes in sweet blush ink, sort like ticking stripes.
A plaidish washi finishes off the center of the box with a Simply Chartreuse ribbon. All topped with a double layered Mat stack. Fancy Folk Art dies were colored with copics. The background of the medallion embossed with some Zing, celery powder.
Thank you from, Think Big Favorites #2.
Had to stamp that gorgeous floral on the envelopes!
Did this design in 2 other color ways.

Liked the first one best!
Oh and here's my pillow box

Fashioned from vellum cardstock and stamp embossed with Hanging by a Thread.
Used a die to attach extra yarn and button on a tag. Remember Heather's video on stamping with versamark first and then with color before clear powder is applied? Looking kind of pink, the colors are Pure Poppy and Dark chocolate, but it matches the sweater going the granddaughter of a first time grandma. The matching soft knit headband will go inside the pillow box.
Just haven't completed that task yet!
Going back into the Craft Cave to do some more thank you's, this time for myself!

PTI's January Blog Hop

Blog-hop-logo
Welcome!
It's Jan. 25th, and time for PapertreyInk's Blog Hop!
The challenge? Black!
January-Blog-Hop-Inspiration
Beautiful, striking, eye catching with the ability to focus attention on it's subject, Black!
For sure, a mammoth of a challenge to start the year!
Wonderful to have time to edit all mistakes, cuz black ain't forgivin'!
Did a birthday card with the new stamp and die set, 'Hands of Time'.
During it's release, Nichole did a pale version of this layout, which I loved!
Took on the dark side with copper and aqua embossing.
Background Basics: Farm and Barn copper embossed on Smokey Shadow cardstock.
A sweet heart, similar to Michele Phillips example, stamp embossed 'With All my heart'.
More from 'With All My Heart'. This time white stamped background from 'Background Basics: Medallions. Pink heart border die cut, with some pink rhinestones. The reverse with smokey shadow ink on white cardstock using the medallions stamp. All PTI papers.
Clear embossed 'Beautiful Butterflies' on the black background for the next card.
Rosy Posy stamp and die set, in various PTI inks on the Tag Sale die.
PTI pattern pack Simply Chartreuse in back.
Sentiment is from Fabulous Frames.
Lastly, and honestly what took the longest, was a card for my valentine,
also from the 'With All My Heart' set.
Black background stamped with 'Backgound Basics: Super Stripes'.
Note to all: Must wait 'till background dries thoroughly before applying embossing powder!
The stitching is stamped from 'Sew Simple Borders'. Hawaiian Shores cardstock base.

MIM #101

MIM #101
Layered embossing.
Rather tricky, but carefully, can be done.
One solution will be to get me a new heat gun. Mine is an oldie that wants to blow the powder all over the page! Oh the angony when you are trying to achieve perfection!
Bow is Embossed in
pink, red and peony Zing embossing powder
Ribbon and Bows stamp set
PTI white cardstock
Pure Poppy Pattern Pack
Stamped the inside
with a sentiment from Over Under Easy and more double bows in red and pink
Did an envelope too!

Thank you Heather!

MIM #100

PapertreyInk's 100th Make it Monday!
Dawn shared a tutorial on fitting our larger than A2's into a carrier that holds the bulk.
A plus with this weeks' challenge is a 100.00 gift certificate at Papertrey!
I'm posting a couple of cards and their packaging.

The sweet little owl stamp is from Hero Arts, recently picked up from the Stamp Art Shoppe in Roseville, Ca. Just had to have him. We have barn owls all over. They keep the mice pop. down, and you can sometimes hear them at night. Picked up some Valentine paper and stickers from Crate Paper. The key embellishment is from Bo Bunny. White card base PTI, as well as the coaster tag I printed the owl on. Papertrey sells Clearly Creative card boxes to house the A2 size cards. The extensions and the thickness fits well within the clear box. I turned the band the long way, embossed some hearts from Heart-2-Heart #3, and Framed out #11. All secured with Washi tape I used on the card.

2nd card has an oversized vellum envelope with some of the same hearts and the love script embellished from Think Big Favorites #23. The card has PTI's By the numbers die '14'. The 4 has some fairy dust sprinkles. Also from PTI is the red poppy felt heart border die. Hop on over to Nichole Heady's blog to see more of the great ideas on How to package those (almost all I ever do!) oversized and embellished cards.

Seasonal tags for All Things Tinsel

Some Valentine tags created for All Things Tinsel, (allthingstinsel.etsy.com)
You can see Alisa Hopper, my daughter, with her family in the background picture. She is the designer of the jewelry line, All Things Tinsel, which can be found on Etsy. Absolutely gorgeous and unique, she uses vintage items and combines with new to create her breath taking line. Some of her pieces are one of a kind and she does custom that furnish brides and their maids with the perfect wedding accessories. She is wearing one of her pieces in the photo. She has another line for children as well. Mommy was commissioned to do her tags. My joy, of course, each purchase receives a handmade tag. These are seasonal tags (Valentines) cupcake stamps and dies from PapertreyInk, fashioned on their sublime cardstock! The tag is the new 'Tag Sale #7'. You can't see it in the photo, but on the back of each tag is a removeable banner stamped 'allthingstinsel.etsy.com'. That way, with banner removed, it becomes a thank you gift to be used by the purchaser.

MIM #99 Repeats & Rainbows

MIM features a challenge by Nichole Heady to use a color template for a card.
No. 3 was my choice, printed with Lovely Layers.
the card has the bottom snipped with a medium scallop die cut in Ripe Avocado added.
Had fun with the repeats and will probably try another card with this technique.
Thank you Nichole!

MIM Chalkboard pt. 2

Another chalkboard card for MIM #98
this time an anniversary theme with some colored 'chalk'.
Not really chalk, but sure looks like it!
Is there anything more fun than working on a project and loving it?
Must be why there are so many of us 'crafters' out there.
PTI Love and Marriage stamp set with a few stamps from Back Pocket Basics and Thanks All Ways.
Great ideas from my stamping sisters at Nichole Heady's blog.
Check them out!

MIM #98 Chalkboard Technique

Betsy Veldman shares with a chalkboard technique with us that was just too much fun.
Her step by step tutorial was so easy to follow!
Check it out on Nichole Heady's blog at PapertreyInk.
This is a Valentines for my my husband.
It represents perfectly the majority of my life that has been spent with my mate!

Combined the new stamp set: Sending my Love with Heart-2-Heart #7,
Back Pocket Basics and Fancy Flouishes.
Debbie Olsen has a tutorial on dyeing your own seam binding with copics to get a perfect match.
I think it was last month.
Just happened to have the pocket watch button in my stash, and I agree with Betsy,
the whole technique really doesn't need much more!
Honestly, I think the design team at PapertreyInk are geniuses!
Thank you Betsy!
Happy New Year all!

MIM #97: 2012 A la Carte

Coming in late with my post for the last MIM of the year.
Nichole listed several videos and challenges to choose from. I actually chose to combine 2.
#53 Creative Coasters Jennifer Ellefson shows us how to use die cut coasters.
And #64 Using Color Inspiration with Nichole Heady

First please forgive the awful lighting. Just got back our harddrive, supposedly fixed. Can't find any of my tools to crop, lighten, etc. (Need it to be 5:00  quick!)
Just dying to use the new Stitched Sentiments stamp set.
Some to the buttons are die cut from coasters and either stamped or attached to red poppy.
The color inspiration came from using purple, red, pink and yellow together.
Another card using the same two challenges.

The embroidery hoop is die cut from a coaster.
Love the sentiments from this set!
Family is home safe, Christmas and all it's hectic joy is over.
But... love coming back to the stamps and dies!
Happy Healthy Prosperous New Year to all!

December Blog Hop White on White

Merry Day After Christmas!
and welcome to the December 2012 Blog Hop!
December-inspiration
Our challenge was to do a project utilizing white on white.
Oh so perfect for a cold winter's day.
We had rain all night, and looking like a rainy day today as well, so all is dreary outside.
Just got my new Mat Stack #6 and used the middle size to cut an opening in the card.
Then matted the largest size as a frame, after I glittered it all up.
The card front is embossed, and a die cut and embossed pretty peony is on the corner.
Inside the card is a vellum embossed happy anniversary. Bridal embossing powder was used.
The peony is hand colored with copics: BV00, BG10 and E11. Very subtle and hard to see detail,
but it was a white on white challenge!
Can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with.
Such a busy week behind me and a busy one coming, but just had to play along.

MIM #96 Patchwork Die Cuts

MIM with Melissa Phillips and cutting die cuts.
What fun to learn new techniques!
This year has been one of the busiest in my life. Have enjoyed every new application to a craft I already love.

Melissa encouraged us to cut up our die cuts and play with scraps.
I'm sure my scrap pile is double (triple?) my full papers.
So there was plenty to choose from!
I needed a few more cards for Christmas, so perfect timing.
The card's an A2 size with a diagonal theme.
Cut my background papers, as well as the damask snowflake die cut and topped it with another cut snowflake. Everything popped up with some foam tape.
Sentiment from In the Meadow stamp set. All PTI, except the bling.
Here are a few more cards I did. Should say practiced on before liking the one posted.
Please tell me I'm not the only one who does a few, doesn't like them and finally gets one that's postable!
I tried embossing the fancy flourish, and cutting the snowflake into 4ths. Felt it was too busy.

MIM #95 Layered Glitter Shapes

Merry Christmas to all!
Heather Nichols challenges us to glitter and layer shapes this week at PapertreyInk.
Nothing I love better than playing with glitter!
My darling granddaughter is turning "7" on the 21st,
so challenge this week became a birthday card for Reagan.
Shape Up Series: Sweater is the base for the card.
Knit bits was stamped and embossed in white. (Long cable).
A bit of lace on the sleeve and under the red ribbon, made the sweater more feminine.
The 7 was die cut from PTI's By the Numbers. Glitter is Martha Stewart.
Following Heather's instructions, the 7 was put through the Xyron, button was attached, then glittered.
Closeup of bells and felt leaf die cut.
Snowflake also double die cut, once with Ocean Tides and then with stone, and white embossed.
Check out Heather's tutorial on Nichole Heady's blog at PapertreyInk.

MIM #94 Detail Glitter Technique

Merriest of Christmas Seasons to all!
Erin Lincoln reminds us that a little glitter here and there adds sparkle to any project.
Deep in the middle of my grandchildren's cards, I decided to double duty.
Can you see the glitter?
Hint, it's in the center of each snowflake. With a twinkle on Santa's eyes and berries on his hat.
Santa is a big favorite at gma's house, cuz I made Father Christmas dolls for years.
Maybe in the next few days I'll post a few that still have a home with me.
Each of 10 grandchildren receive a special card this year.
With the help of Papertrey's Santa Claus stamp set, they will get a card with a postcard inside.
The stamp set really did the work for me. Such sweet images and phrases, who could resist
planning an eventful card that says, "you've been nice"?
Each will list 5 items they want, and Gpa and Gma will choose 1 (or 2) to give them for Christmas.

both sides of the postcard are decorated,
and the envelope even gets special treatment!
Now to address the adult cards!
