MFW TT Cup of Tea

Tuesday Trigger at Moxie Fab
'Now That's My Cup of Tea'

Inspiration? Sweet pastel colors, blooms,
and teacups!

Betsy Veldman did a teacup card awhile back with stacked teacups on a sweet triangle cloth.
 I 'borrowed' her idea,
and added a teapot with it's lid open.
PTI Tea for Two, Tea for Two Additions stamps and dies
Little cloth is a Limitless Layer square, stamped twice to form a gingham pattern with Bitty Background Blocks 2.
The rose on the teapot is from Table Service.
The Spring Rain panel is first stamped with Mini Blooms in Spring Rain ink, then
embossed in white. The panel was then embossed with PTI's Vineyard folder.

Closeup shows some detailing on the card
Everything is popped up with foam squares for a bit of dimension.
This week's Tuesday Trigger runs through Sun. the 25th.

Marybeth's Birthday Surprise

Guess who's being celebrated today?
That's right, it's Marybeth!
Happy Birthday to you, sweet lady!
And a whole bunch of loving wishes (and of course cards!) are being sent your way
My card to you says it all, Beautiful, Amazing, Original, and Sweet!
No outline stitching (on order!), but there are a sprinkling of sequins. (tee hee!)
Make a wish, blow out the candle,
And, May all your wishes come true!
You have brought joy to so many. Just our way of sending some love back to you!
Move along now to the next BD surprise.

Love you, and thank you for your friendship!

Recipe Remix

SAF 2013 Remix

This is a card I did awhile ago, that just lacked something!?
It puzzled me what went wrong.
Colors, design, shapes.
Would love to have it 'remixed'!

Festive Friday's Theme Challenge

Festive Friday continues to help us with our Christmas cards!
This challenge is to create a project for a child.
There are 10 grandchildren in our family, and grandma makes a card for each one.
At Christmas time, when he was little, Garrett would help me set out the nutcracker collection.
He loved this special task, and I loved seeing his face as we unwrapped each one to set them in their
special place.
This card will be his!
A couple of fun Christmas papers from Cosmo Cricket with 3 windows cut from 2 sizes of
Spellbinders Nestabilities: Labels 28.
Inside the card the 3 stamped nutcrackers from Waltzingmouse's Nutcracker Sweet stamp set.
PTI Rustic White Cardstock
The 2 wreaths at the top were first die cut with PTI's largest Button Up 2, stamped with Pure Poppy then New Leaf. Then I die cut the centers again with the smallest blossom die from
Polka Dot Parade #2.
Heart is from PTI's Heart-2-Heart #11 stamped with the heart from WM Nutcracker.
Mistletoe and Holly branch, die cut in New Leaf (PTI).
My sweet Garrett is 10 now, possibly too old to help grandma set out the nutcrackers,
we'll see.
The child's Christmas challenge runs for 2 weeks.
Catch it at Festive Friday's blog, here:

MFW TT I'm Craving Navy 2

2nd Post for MFW TT Navy Challenge
2nd post because after submitting first post, had an idea brewing that I just had to give a try!
(Ever happen to you?)
One of PTI's MIM tutorials (think it was Nichole) was to use bleach on darker card stock.
You can control the effects, to a point, using the happy results (or sometimes surprising) artistically.
Last month's release at Papertrey included a set called Meadowgreens.
The dandelion centers and leaves were "stamped" with bleach, then stamped on Enchanted Evening card stock. The result was a varigated shade of yellow.
I left the flower centers alone, but stamped the leaves with a rolled blend of New Leaf and Ripe Avocado inks.
I don't think I could make the same 'result' again if I tried,
and this wasn't my first try! ( You don't get to see tries 1-4!)
When all was dry, I white embossed the main flower, and silver embossed the sentiment.
On the dresser  of the inspiration photo, is a small vase of something green, so the addition of the green pearly centers was my first choice.

However,
This is the same card with hot pink.
Kinda changes things up a bit?
Would love to hear what you think.
This is the last day for Moxie's Tuesday Trigger.
Here's the link:
I am totally in awe of those who can whip up fab cards in under 10 min.
Those who can, do, and why not try in navy? You have until midnight est!

MIM #129

Happy Tuesday everyone!
So beautiful today in California's Central Valley.
In the mid 90's is a good day!
Heather Nichols uses crayons to for our MIM challenge at PTI.
I consider cardmaking a wholesome obsession,
and getting Christmas cards done early are not a bad thing either!
Nothing cools as much as making a frosty card when it's there's a long hot summer outside!
PTI's Masculine Motif's stamp of 3 trees stamped in Smokey Shadow and again in Soft Stone.
Then I began the fun part of adding white crayon to the tips of the branches and snowdrifts.
As Heather demonstrated, an inked sponge is applied to bring out the snow, ah, crayon highlights.
Inks used: Blueberry Sky, Soft Stone.
Frame is Spellbinders Nestabilities, Marvelous Squares.
Sprinkled a bit of Fairy Dust to accent.
Sentiment is from PTI's Happiest of Holidays
Rainbow inked with Autumn Rose and Blueberry Sky.
The Holidays never fail to sneak up. Maybe I'll be ready this year. Probably not, but I'll have some cards ready to send.

MFW's Birthday Sketch Challenge

Not a Single Stamp!
Well, that's one of the challenges we have at MFW.
To do: A project with or without stamping following this sketch:
Let's try no stamping.
Love the fact that it's rather masculine (don't have enough of them).
Papers from My Mind's Eye, 'Traveler', 6x6 pad.
Popped up the center happy by layering it with 2 additional chip board dies cuts.
Die cutouts reveal a map paper.
Happy die from PTI's Wonderful Words
PTI cardstock: Rustic Cream
Leaf Die: PTI Delightful Dahlias
Birthday Sketch Challenge runs until 8/24. Still time to join the fun!

MIM #128 2nd Post

2nd Post for Papertrey's MIM: Stamping Random Backgrounds

Bookmark for grandson Nate. He'll certainly always know it's his!
Bookmark die cut in Teracotta Tile (Natey's favorite color is orange!)
Antique Alphabet and stars from Masculine Motifs.
Stars stamped with Platinum ink didn't show like I wanted, so outlined the stars with silver gel pen.
Inside glassine bag, just like his sister's, holds the bookmark.
Naturally more masculine look!
No frills for Nate.
Love that this stamp set included a boy's image too.
Background stamps from Masculine Motifs
Still time to join the fun on Heather's blog!

FF C14 - Element Challenge - Candy Cane

Festive Friday is getting us ready for the Christmas rush with challenges.
This week's challenge is Candy Cane.
How fun is the thought of candy canes in August?
Decided on a shaker card using PTI's Candy Cane Christmas and
Gingerbread Lane.

The shaker is a cutout created with the Limitless Layers circle die.
Sandwiched inside is a gingerbread house stamped, candy cane style with PTI's BB: Superstripes
Some fussy cutting for a roof and open doorway.
Shaker concoction, Stampendous Shaved Ice and Twinklet's Diamon Dust.
Candy Canes are hung on red twine.
Inside, aqua mist dotty paper, peppermint candies white embossed, from BB: Christmas,
sentiment from Think Big Favorites #20.
Die cut Loop de Loop and Memory Box 'Joy', and some sequins finish.
You can find Festive Friday's challenge here:

MIM #128

Good Monday Morning everyone!
MIM at PTI features Ashley with
Stamping Random Background Patterns
Decided to do some bookmarks for the grandchildren returning to school this month.
The card I will be sending the bookmark in has been stamped, randomly, with dreamy words from
PTI's Embellishments stampset.
Bookmark is stamped with a sentiment from All Booked Up.
Lots of layering with a Mat Stack 4 stamped with the image from All Booked up, with the reading girl stamped on a Limitless layers circles die cut.
PTI buttons, inks and card stocks.
Inside of card.
Left plenty of room on top and bottom of bag for a 'to' and 'love, grandma'.
Will do a bunch of these for my sweethearts,
this one is for 8 year old Analise, starting 3rd grade.
Tutorial by Ashley can be found here:

MIM #127

One more post for the MIM this week, Double Backgrounds
Needed a card for someone I haven't seen for awhile,
plus, just got 'Simply Jane'. Cannot believe I'm so late with this beautiful set!
Absoloutely love every stamp and saying included.
BB woodgrain in fine linen was 1st, then the rose bouquet in lavender moon with bow in melon berry, all stamped on a slant.
Melon Berry dotted ribbon, frame gold embossed. Sweet ladies double embossed in a shimmery purple.
Sentiment also embossed in purple.
'Which of all my important nothings shall I tell you first?"
Oh Jane, you said it so sweetly!
Closeup shows the pop ups.
So simple, can't wait for the phone call, so we can 'catch up'!

WM PJ Party & MFW TT

I've been playing along with Waltzingmouse's Pajama Party.
The last of their challenges is 'Bedtime Story', and it is a sketch challenge.
I placed an order with them and chose some adorable themed stamps, among them, 'Cottage Home'. Love at first inking!
Stamped the smaller home a bunch on different card stocks, embossed in white, fussy cut and pieced until I got what I liked.
Reminds me of the 'Painted Ladies' built on the steep hills of San Francisco.
Quite a sight to see, with their gingerbread trims and colorful fronts!
I'm also entering this in Moxie Fab's Tuesday Trigger:

PTI MIM #127

Dawn McVey helps us create our own background paper this week.
Not only one stamping but doubled up!
She carefully advises to achieve the best results, as this can be overpowering if you get carried away
(as I've tried this before and found results a bit busy)
Had to do more tags for All Things Tinsel so went to work.
1st tag
Pale and sweet, just like the bridal jewelry they are packaged with.
The first stamp is a Stampington Ledger Flourish wood mounted that was centered and stamped with Sweet Blush.
Then with Smokey Shadow, a Boutique Borders frame, positioned over the first stamp.
Thanks is copper embossed and is from Mini Blooms. Also stamped a little 'so much' beneath it.
This is where things got crazy.
Working on 2 projects at once, and dealing with an uncontained mind, I felt the sweet blush was too pale. So I reached for the re-inker to well, re-ink the pad. Only it wasn't sweet blush, it was Hibiscus Burst! Oops! I needed to do about 20 tags so I continued with what I call, Sweet Burst!
I think I like it better!
Also changed things up by adding die cut flowers from Bigger Blooms.
Too much? I thought it would be, to reproduce 20 times, so I simplified.
Same layout, same colors (with the oops ink pad!), a few sequins,  and 20 tags later:
Just in case you're not bored silly with this post, this is a comparison of the pale and brightened up tags.
Needless to mention, a Sweet Blush inkpad will be in my next PTI order!

Waltzingmouse PJ Party Post 2

Back again for post 2
This time it's a Background Challenge
Big Berry Cherries - Waltzingmouse.
PTI cardstock and paperpack
PTI Limitless Layers lg. Circle dies
PTI inks: aquamist and ocean tides,  soft shadow
Zing embossing powders

Ever see a Pluot? It's a cross between a plum and an apricot.
My dear friend, Mikel just brought these over from her tree.
Had to explain why I was still in my pjs!

This is what they look like on the inside
And yes, they taste as sweet as they look!
Wish you could all enjoy them with me.
Here's the Waltzingmouse link:
A few hours to play, and then I must get dressed!
