Festive Friday - Trigger Challenge

The challenge this week at Festive Friday is a Trigger:

So many things came to mind, including several stamp sets to use,
ended up with picking my sentiment first, and building around it.
Using PTI's newest mat stack die set, I embossed Silent Night from Happiest of Holiday (PTI), in Sapphire, Eggplant and silver powder. The Mixture looked to pretty to toss, so it was the powder used on the frame.
From there the card told me what it wanted to be like, white embossed pine needles and silver pinecones from PTI's Peaceful Pinecones stamp set.
I sponged aqua mist and winter wisteria over the embossing, and misted it.
A Silver ribbon, an embossed pinecone diecut and a few rhinestones completed the card.
Soft and peaceful, don't you think?

WM Pajama Party Bedtime Story Sketch Challenge

The last of our challenges for Waltzingmouse's PJ party was this sketch.
My card uses the Funky Feathers stamp set.
PTI cardstock,
white and lavender embossing powder.
Used Perfect pearls to give the background feathers some color variation, so hard to see in
the photos.
Limitless Layers ovals dies from PapertreyInk
Flower is a brad from Bazzill Basics.
You can find Waltzingmouse's sketch challenge here:
You'll be blown away by the amazing entries in each challenge!
Great ideas there!

PTI's MIM #130 Heat 'N Bond

TGIM!
Because. MIM is back! Phew! I know, we all had plenty of fill in, but I for one, adore MIM's!
Erin brings out the Heat 'N Bond, and some PTI dies for decorating, well, just about anything fabric!
I make kitchen towels every year for family and friends, so this tutorial was the perfect
'get going' project.
Labor Day is the start of fall, and that signals 'Holiday Season'.
Halloween is right around the corner, folks.
Time to put away seashells and bring out the pumpkins!
(can you tell I'm obsessed the decorating for the seasons?)
PTI has a great die set from the Shape Up Series called Pumpkin Sections.
Used it to cut 2 different quilting cottons, and pieced to form the pumpkin on
a linen fabric.
I usually buy 3 or so yards of it when it's on sale, and sew up the edges to form a towel body.
Then I can decorate them for any holiday.
A strip bound by rick rack and you're done!
Simply Chartreuse stem and craft felt mouth and eyes.
PTI button and twine.
Erin, thank you, your tutorial was a joy!

MFW's TT Honoring Ombre

This week's Tuesday Trigger is Honoring Ombre
Cake anyone?
Let's just make a card out of this photo!
I had a stamp from BLine from a while back,
reminded me of 'presentation', something this photo oozes!
Feathers and sentiment from Waltzingmouse's Fine Feathers.
Inks: Tsukineko Brilliance.
Die cut butterfly from PTI.
Tissue paper sewn to card stock (Thank you, once again, Betsy Veldman!)
Vellum embossed to replicate a glass dome.
Nichole Heady did a tutorial awhile back using Perfect Pearls.
Just the right touch for these feathers. Thank you Nichole.

MFW's Holiday Home Decor Challenge

Moxie Fab World is getting us ready for a busy holiday by several challenges.
Years ago I made tussle mussies for a growing family, until I was muchly blessed with
so many!
Thought this challenge was a way to bring back a handmade ornament popular in Victorian times.
Mine is a peek-a-boo tussie mussie
Started with PTI's Limeaid Ice card stock, and stamped it with Peaceful Pinecones.
Die cut framed out #7 in cork, hand cutting the window in the TM on both sides.
The cork was then misted with a handmade chocolate glaze and applied to a weighter coaster stock.
Just didn't have enough 'stiffness' by itself.
Hung a frosted bell in the window,
closed up the box, and decorated both front and back and top.
Just had to add some of my backyard's 'trash' to the piece! (Sweet little pinecones
are everywhere right now)
I can e-mail a sketch of the pattern, if you'd like.
It's hand cut and scored to fold.
PTI felt die cut from Mistletoe and Holly
Want to play?
Better hurry, challenge ends tomorrow! (9/2).

MFW's Christmas Tag Challenge Post 2

2nd post for Moxie's Christmas Tag Challenge
Stamped the tag with words from the set,
and included a place to put a name (PTI's tiny tags dies).

Made a set of 3 from Waltzingmouse's Nutcracker Sweet stamp set
Embossed and fussy cut nutcracker/tree and popped them onto PTI's tag sale die.

Still time to join the fun, but better hurry, challenge ends 9/2!

MFW's Holiday Tags

Need to get these posted before the challenge ends!
Love, love, LOVE making tags!
And Moxie Fab World gave me the nudge to start my holiday collection a bit early.
Waltzingmouse's 'Cottage Home' embossed in Winter Wonderland by Stampendous
Sugared the bells
You only have until 9/2 to join the fun!

WM Challenge 4 Golden Oldies

Challenge 4 is to use our oldies, preferably WM stamps.
One of my orders was The Seasons of Love Tags to coordinate with mySpellbinders Nestabilities
Classic Heart and Classic Scalloped Heart.
Love those 2 Spellbinder sets, so when I saw WM had stamps to go with them, well,
had to have the set!
My oldie is a WM oldie, but a newbie for me! Hope that counts!
Used the set's snowflakes for my wallpaper, stamped in PTI's kraft.
The The heart is embossed with Adirondack's Raspberry Plum, Joy is embossed in Ivory.
PTI cardstocks except for the raspberry,
which is  from my stash, wish I could tell you where it's from, but it was the perfect hue to the embossing powder, so had to use it!

Did a bunch of tags as well, just love getting a head start on the holidays!
One more challenge, a sketch to complete tonight.
And must get around to see the beautiful posts!

WM PJ Party Color Inspiration

Challenge 3 is a color challenge
speaking of challenges, those are not the easiest colors to play with.
But, a challenge is a challenge, is a, well you know.
I don't have a lot of WM stamps, so I chose Cottage Home to work with, which I loved the moment I saw it. This stampset just speaks to a grandma that is a collector of all things miniature!
Layers, piecing, picture window, and hand dyed resin blossoms.
I first created a ticking paper with PTI's background basics: Super Stripes and scarlett jewel ink.
Way too bright so softened with vellum.
Cut a picture window from both and framed it with Mat Stack 5.
Fussy cut 2 topiaries and placed them on top.
Used an edger die to scallop the bottom of the front.
Some details with embossing and a few rhinestones.

Waltzingmouse Challenge 2 Get Nauty

2nd Challenge for Waltzingmouse PJ Party
We are to 'Get Nauty' for this challenge.
For a cardmaker that can only mean get nautical!
Here's my card
Ocean Bound is my stamp choice.
Created a 'wallpaper of the life preserver and seahorse.
PTI cardstocks and inks (Terracotta Tile and Enchanted Evening.)
Created a medallion with the Limitless Layers dies and that amazing ship scene.
The anchor was fussy cut and embossed with pewter.
It's 5:00PM PST on the west coast, too early for my pj's?
Don't think so!

Waltzingmouse Pajama Party-Aug.

Watzingmouse is hosting a pajama party!
Challenge 1 wants us to 'Tie a Knot in it'.
All the wonderful images on their Tying the Knot stamp set provided the inspiration for this card.
Square cards are so interesting! Probably aren't done as often because of the extra postage, but fun to do
none the less!
Center wheel fussy cut from Ocean Bound.
PTI cardstock
Ivory embossing powder from Stampendous.

PTI SAF 2013 Closing

10 projects, 10 challenges, 10 cards,
What a wonderful Stamp-a-faire!
Thank You Nichole and designers!

SAF Limited Ingredients

To do a card with a limited amount of ingredients, that is the challenge.

All stamped with Aqua Mist,
Circle stamp from Tagged Sentiments
Basket of Blessings paper pieced.
Rick rack die cut from Aqua and gold card stock.
Not so easy in a room filled with goodies to put on a card!
Limited ingredients...
that's the final challenge!

SAF Sugar Coating the Background

Betsy Veldman showed us how to sugar-coat the background of our card.
I used the new stamp set, Reasons to Smile, that came with our Stamp-A-Fair kit.
Prisma glittered the background and put a bit of gunmetal Stickles on the flower centers
Tiny tag is wrapped with 1/8" tape and dipped in glitter.

SAF Scratch and Sniff

It IS possible to make our own scratch and sniff cards!

Using Pumpkin Pie Spice and clear embossing powder, I embossed 2 fussy cut pumpkins with the mixture. (Did I hear threre are die cuts coming for this set?)
Here's my card for this challenge.
Stamped the background with Autumn Hills, and used copics to color in a bit.
Tag Sale cut from corrugated card stock, and
yes! It smells like pumpkin pie!

SAF Custom Accents

I remember 'Shrinky Dinks'!
It kept the kids busy for hours!
My kiddos are grown, and now it's my turn to play!
After watching the videos and tutorials,
I decided on Melissa's example.
I used Damask Snowflakes dies
Using the mat sheet, and after a couple of oops, this is what I got.
Boy, does it shrink!
Sprayed and sprinkled glitter on 3 snowflakes and made a Christmas card
Stamped the image from Santa Stationary, copic colored it and selectively ran the piece thru the
cuddle bug with a Snowflake folder.
Tea dye stained edges and Angled Edge die with sentiment.
Peppermint twine.
Rustic Cream cardstock.

PTI August Blog Hop

It is Aug. 25th, and that means Blog Hop at PTI!
Fortuately we were given our challenges  ahead of time, and, although I slept in today,
I had this card ready.
Here's the color and sketch I chose:
And here's the card:
Gold embossed 'Thank You' from Pedal Pusher.

This card is dedicated to Nichole Heady and the design team at PapertreyInk, for an amazing job well done! I know all who participated had the best time ever, from morning 'til night!
The best tutorials ever!
Thank You!
Speaking for me, I'm not done, so there's more posting to do!
See you all soon!

Gallon, Quart, Pint

Betsy Veldman reminds us to keep everything in balance with this challenge
OK, so I had this tree left over from the misting challenge.
Simply adapted the Gallon,  quart, pint rule by stamping Ripe Avocado (quart), and Aqua Mist (pint) leaves to the Ripe Avocado tree trunk.
Misted background: Scarlett Jewel (gallon). It works!
Gotta go!
