MFW's Embellishments Challenge

2nd post for Moxie's Challenge to get us to use our stash of embellishments.
I do own a few!
These are from FarmHouse paper co.
Rustic and country it spoke to me when I bought it, so was glad to break into the package.
PTI Parisienne Doily, and zig zag dies
PTI kraft cardstock, plum pudding and plum pudding pattern pack.

MFW's Sticker & Tape Challenge

Moxie is having hosting Handmade Cards Week,
and among the challenges is a
Stickers & Tape Challenge.
Had an idea to die cut PTI's Holiday Cheer set, tape it, and set it back into the die cut, like a puzzle.
(Is there paper craft word for that?)
There are 2 washi tapes I combined, scalloped and overlapped them, then die cut the trees into the
card base.
Then the most fun thing happened!
Doing a series of Christmas Cards to be auctioned at my son's charity event.
And all this confetti appeared!

It became the 'snow' on my card.
Here's the tools I used:

One of those California Classic days, couldn't resist taking outside photos!
Helps to show the pearl card stock the confetti came from.
Could not have applied these small pieces without the Quick Stick tool.
(Thank you Betsy Veldman!)

Wish you all a happy Autumn day!

MFW's Ready Made Embellies Challenge

More Halloween cards!
(See previous post for more!)
This will be entered in Moxie's Ready Made Embellishments Challenge
Found this 'spooky' family at Michael's for 40% off, and who can resist their sweet faces????
Mounted them on a PTI tag sale die, and added the 'spooky' sign
(He had a small 'boo' in a previous life (ha!)

PTI True black card stock with a Tim Holtz spider web folder in bottom corner
White inked it a bit.
Love the babe's orange pumpkin so I added a block of orange dotty behind the tag.

Inside: PTI sentiments from Mr. Bones and Happy Halloween.
Lots of time to play.

Halloween '13

Unbelievable, but it's Halloween time, again, and besides turning my home into a 'happy' Halloween place, I've been busy with making cards.

10 grandchildren, 1 on the way, (yes, Marybeth, I'm catching up!), and various kids of friends, my Halloween card list has grown.
Please enjoy, these are not for challenges, just fun for kids of all ages!

1st, A Chalkboard Halloween
Had way too much fun in the Halloween section of our Michaels (dangerous place!)
All the Halloween was 40% off!

Tried to keep these as simple and easy to assemble as possible.
(Somehow 'simple' escaped my vocabulary! And I do envy those CAS people!)

Next, this 'Raven' card will probably be in the Waltzingmouse Pajama Party, next week.
Love their new spooky tree!

Taylor's card
Now don't you know that granddaughter Taylor, who freaks at spiders, always seems to find them at Grandma and Grandpa's house when she visits?
Because it's an ongoing joke, she always gets a card with a spider on it!

She's our eldest, and is also a 'purple' gal!

Carson's card
Our boy with the brains, knows much about bones and history, and just about everything else.
Will probably go on a hunt and find Noah's Ark someday.

Next, featuring another of WM's new release, love it already, Opera Tags
Not sure who gets this one, kinda scary, so probably one of the boys

Sweet Noelle gets one with candy corn!

This is as scary as it gets for Noelle!

Couldn't resist this set of bone stickers!

Even with the fushia card base, nice for a boy!

And this one that reminds me of the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland!

That's a white paper rose sprayed with Lindy's 'Dark Chocolate Truffle'.

Hope you enjoyed a little seasonal fun!
If you have any questions about what or how, just ask.
Have a great weekend!

Merry Monday Christmas Bird

Use a bird on your  card, the theme for this week's challenge at
Merry Monday #78.
Lots of layers, patterns and vintage colors for my card.
Here's the inspiration photo:
I went with PTI's Birds and Blooms set, layered onto a die cut Think Big Favs #19, then onto a glittered snowflake from Fancy Flakes, onto a wine bottle die cut, and then onto a tag from Tag Sale.
Phew! Told you there were lots of layers!
Had the card arranged, not sewn, for days. Wasn't until I woke on Fri. to see Melissa Phillips' samples for PTI's upcoming release, that I had the final look! She split a vellum die cut snowflake, and sewed them on the edges of her card. Perfect! Had to give it a try. Gives a hint to the pattern underneath, without covering or overpowering.
Ribbon & velvet bell from Michaels
Pattern paper from last year's stash (Authentique).

MIM #135 Layered Emboss Resist

Make it Monday this week is a super technique by Heather Nichols,
Stamp, Emboss, and Resist.
The trick is to use a full stamp image to stand out when the ink resist is applied.
Lots of Halloween cards to do, so I chose the pumpkin from Scentamentals.
The first layer is a script wood block background stamp from Stampendous, I hardly use.
It's a bear to maneuver, but I figured the dots from Polka Dot Basics would cover.
Then comes the resist part. The pumpkin is stamped randomly, and clear embossed.
When ink is rubbed around the stamped image, the emboss resists.
How fun is that!
The glittered pumpkin is from Shape Up Series: Pumpkin Sections.
The pieces were die cut from Shrink Film, baked and then glittered.
(Remember the technique from The Stamp-a-Faire?)
glittered rick rack border die
Sentiment from Trick or Treat.

MFW's All That Glitters post 2

Today is World Cardmaking Day
(like we all need an excuse!)
and thought I'd do a bit of catchup on card ideas that I've wanted to do.
For instance this Christmas card, done in neutrals for Festive Friday, wanted to do in gold for
Moxie Fab's All That Glitters is Gold Challenge
Using 2 shades of embossing gold, and PTI's Nativity Silhouettes, and NS Additions,
did the same card.
Gold is so elegant, everything it touches, well, turns golden!
Inside, 2 shades of gold,
And clear window.
Since I have the whole day (it is WCMD after all), I plan to do more of these and have them ready
for Christmas.

If you're reading this post you probably celebrate this world holiday, so I wish all,
Happy World Cardmaking Day!

FFC - Star

This week at Festive Friday, the challenge is to use
A Star Element

My card features Papertrey's Nativity Silhouettes, Nativity Silhouettes Additions, and
Star of Wonder.

The center is die cut with the Sending You arched die.
I also die cut 'Love' from the one liners die.
Inks: PTI Kraft and Fine Linen
Gold Embossing powder: Pirate's Gold Stampendous
Stickles Crystal and a small rhinestone accent the star.
Before sending, I'll add clear cardstock to the window, but it doesn't photograph well, so I left it off and snapped the photos.
PTI Stamper's Select and Kraft Pattern Pack

Inside features another sentiment.
Baby Jesus is fussy cut to stand out a bit.
Festive Friday's Challenge runs through the week and can be found here:

MIM #134 Repeat + Lift

Nichole shows us a technique to hi-light our word dies.
Must say this card is the closest attempt to a 10 min. card I've ever done! (OK, 35 min. isn't bad!)
Using the Wonderful Words 'together' die, I cut it from Shimmer gold paper.
From there it went so quick!

Rustic cream card stock
Basket of Blessings stamp set
Sentiments 'thankful' from First Fruits
PTI Inks: Kraft, Terracotta Tile, Scarlett Jewel and tea dye duo
Card base: Vintage Cream
Pretty much a CAS of her card, with a different word.
Love this technique!
Thank you, Nichole!

MFW's TT 'A Fine Toothed Comb' & Metal Wood & Cork Challenge

The Tuesday Trigger at Moxie Fab World is this delicate comb:
Inspiration?
Delicate, vintage, feminine, metallic, porcelain,
and
a decoration for a lady's hair.

My new Waltzingmouse order was laying before me calling to be used and there on top was
their new 'Putting on the Ritz' stamp set. Delicate, feminine, well, you know, perfect for this trigger.

I created my bg paper using 2 of the stamps in the set and PTI's Simply Chartreuse and Fine Linen.
The pattern was perfect, until I got to the bottom!
I Cut off the 1/2", rather than cut the stamped pattern,  and added a bit of glitter paper that just happened to match.
The 20's images feature this art deco lady, I cut with PTI's 1 1/2" circle die, then stamped with Melon Berry and decorated with plume and sequins. The top sequin is in the shape of a flower,
pink Stickles added to center.
She was added to a 2nd die cut circle stamped with another image from the set in PTI's Dark Chocolate. Then added a ring of latte pearls.
Another larger size was added to the diamond stamped shapes on top and bottom.
Soft gold ribbon, 2 metal leaves, copper tie finish.
Oh yes, and a sprinkling of 'fairy dust'!
A Fine Toothed Comb runs through this week if you'd like to play along!

Also realized I could enter this in Moxie's 'Metal, Wood, & Cork Challenge.
Love those 2-fer's!

Merry Monday #77

Good Monday Morning!
Last week I was chosen to be the guest designer on Merry Monday's Challenge blog.
The Challenge is this theme:
Irrisistable to a quilter!
Now a few weeks ago, Dawn McVey of PTI showed us how to decorate with dies.
Felt all those lovely layers were perfect for a 'quilt card'!
PTI cardstocks
PTI's circle border die
jingle bells and peppermint twist twine.
Lil Inkers stitched die
Zing embossed sentiment (double stamped) from PTI's Instant Photo Holidays
