PTI's September Blog Hop 3rd Post

September Blog Hop at PTI!
3rd Post is all about Halloween!

A bit spooky without being scary is this Halloween themed wreath card.
There's a wonderful veiny stamp in the Leaf Prints set that I used to create a wreath.
A leaf from the same set was then stamped in True Black to fill things in a bit.
Then came the fun of adding the Halloween elements from Tremendous Treats: Halloween.
Copics used to color.
Cardstocks: Soft Stone, Orange Zest and True Black Pattern Packs, Stamper's Select White
Sentiment: Trick or treat embossed in middle of wreath and on 2 popped up leaves.

The hop is open all day,
For those of you who want to play,
Don't forget to leave some love along the way!

PTI's September Blog Hop 2nd Post

2nd Post for Wreaths Blog Hop
This time a jolly Christmas theme!

Holiday Lights stampset comes with a long straight string on which to build your lights.
I bent and stamped the string several times before adding the lights, into a 'wreath' shape.
Some fussy cut lights are popped up.

Sentiment also from Holiday Lights on handmade banner
All PTI cardstocks, inks and stamps
Stickles to look like lights on bottom

With the fabulous theme of 'Wreaths' as a challenge, you're sure to find some wonderful ideas today, so hop along and see what everyone has done!

Mighty Oak die cut stencil
Mat Stack #6 in Ocean Tides and Dark Chocolate
Meadow Green leaves, stamped with Scarlett Jewel and Ripe Avocado, then clear embossed.
Rustic White cardbase

Crackling that took place... happy accident!
Will definitely do this again!

MMonday #75

This week's challenge is to use the following colors on our Christmas card:

Merry Monday Christmas Card Club #75 {Red, Dark Brown, Vanilla, Champagne or Gold with some shimmer}

The photo glows with the shimmer of a holiday table!
I tried to capture that feeling.
PTI cardstock: fine linen
PTI's Peaceful Pinecones stamp and die sets
Used a couple shimmer papers, platinum and vanilla
Red embossed the popped up pinecones, then used glue and glitter to highlight both the pinecones and fir wreath.
Wreath and sentiment stamped with PTI's Dark Chocolate.
Very late in entering, had a busy weekend!

MFW's All That Glitters

Quick post of a card done for our son's BD, who lives at the coast.
Used Waltzingmouse's Tying the Knot and Oceanbound stamp sets. Knew when I saw these delightful images they would come in handy for him and his family!
Sentiment: PTI Masculine Motifs
Stamped the images first, then stamped again on diagonal cut piece.
Fussy cut the wheel.
Glitter embossed strip on bottom.
Washi tape, gold brad and a few gold pearls finish.
The All that Glitters challenge runs through Oct. 7th if you like to give it a try!

MIM #132

Dawn McVey shows us how to get miles from multiple die cut borders.
Love my border dies, and had this idea to use the rick rack border in a weave.
Do I like the end result. Not really. Too busy, I think.
Love the technique though, and will use it again.
Getting the halloween cards done. Will do 10, one for each grandchild, this one's scratch & sniff.
When you scratch the yellow pumpkin, pumpkin spice and ginger!

FF Colour Challenge: Navy, White & Silver

Time for a new challenge at Festive Friday!

Navy, White and Silver!
It's supposed to be in the 90's here in the central valley, cooler than last week,
and these colors are the perfect chill!
Did some resist watercoloring with PTI's snowflakes stamp from In the Meadow and Enchanted Evening ink. Spritzed with water first, then let the ink create the sky.
The tree stamp is Classic Evergreen from Hero Arts.
Stamped twice in the background and embossed with Stampendous: Shabby Blue.
Don't know if they make it anymore, but it's a chunky embossing powder that creates a texture I've yet to equal! (Why do they stop making the greats?)
In the Meadow hills die (PTI), embossed with Stampendous: Winter Wonderland, a silver and white mix.
Sentiment from PTI's Winter Wonderland, stamped with enchanted evening ink.
Challenge runs through the week.
You'll find lots of great ideas for your holiday cards!

MFW TT In Transition

Tuesday Trigger's In Transition
What inspires?
Color, depth, texture, and sleek slick modern!
Now I love a good challenge as much as anyone, but I was not thrilled to see this photo.
What can I (a collector of all things vintage) do with a linear graphic?
Almost passed, but needed to conquer the 'not me' so won't do it nonsense.
So I took a little help from PTI, broke out their new Autumn Pattern Pieces and stamped MANY times in different colors and patterns 'till I came up with what I liked.
Sentiment from Birthday Style
Die cut flowers from Happiness in Bloom.
This week's Tuesday Trigger is a 2 weeker so you have plenty of time. No excuses, if I can conquer my new age fears, so can you!

HB Kara

Surprise!
It's Kara's Birthday!
That's right, Madame Wong, it's all about you!
Take a big breath, and blow out your, uh, candle. No need to say how many, it's the symbol that counts.
Fun, great commenter, at all times a hoot, today, Kara, Celebrate!
Thanks to Joyce, the ultimate blog hop planner,
don't stop here, there's more love and tribute to follow.
Inside of card, lots of wishes for the best year ever!
See that bundt cake in the background? Well, it's not a cake at all! It's a candle.
Great for calorie counting!
Now speed along.
Love you lady!

APWP Green & White with Woodgrain

Merry Monday #74

We are asked to use green and white with woodgrain.

This photo oozes warmth and more warmth!
Wood just does that to me.
The rustic floor, the ease of the chairs. Couldn't you just settle in here?
With this inspiration, this card.

PTI has a woodgrain emboss that I began with in Soft Stone card stock.
I sponged on some platinum ink to 'glow' it up a bit
Memory Box frame and joy dies,
Lil Inkers bow die
PTI Layered Postmarks: Holiday stamp and die tree embossed with Stampendous Winter Wonderland.
I love that these challenges run weekly. Gets me to pump out my Christmas cards early!

MIM #131: Striped Embossing

Betsy Veldman showed us how to stripe our embossed sentiments.
When she did it, everything looked easy.
I just happened to have an idea for this challenge that I found hard to give up!
The finished product is NOT my first try.
Nor is it my second (or 3rd, etc.!)
I wanted to do a Halloween card.
Also a one layer, as Betsy did in her video.
Add to that a blackboard effect.
Throw in this week's challenge of triple embossing, and by evening of the first day,
all I wanted to do was leave the cave!
Wanted a candy corn effect on the Halloween, done with Headline Alphabet (PTI).
Problem 1: Not all Zing powders stick when applied to stamped card stock.
Problem 2: Much easier to pick a large image that is not in 9 pieces!
Not one to give in, I continued.
Using phrases from Trick or Treat stamp set and Bubble Talk, I assembled my 'blackboard'.
Needed a bit of silly, so out came the web and spider from Mr. Bones.
Had to begin again, needed the spacing for said elements.
(sigh!)
Not done.
Autumn Acorns to the rescue! Not happy with them stamped (chalked) in white.
Do over, this time in color.
Finally am I happy? Not really.
But it is one layer, and the embossing IS striped.
Sort of a 'Shabby' Silly Halloweeny card.
Good to keep around to remind me to KISS (Keep it Simple Stupid!)
Betsy, from me to you, wish I could be a fly on your shoulder to behold your genius at work!

Merry Monday Challenge

There simply is nothing better than making Christmas Cards!
Thanks to Marybeth, I found another challenge that peeked my creative bones.
This one focuses on using kraft, red and green, and a bit of twine.

Very short on time, here's my card.

Just getting this in under the wire.
Inspiration? All things warm and wonderful about the best time of year!

Festive Friday - Trigger Challenge

The challenge this week at Festive Friday is a Trigger:

So many things came to mind, including several stamp sets to use,
ended up with picking my sentiment first, and building around it.
Using PTI's newest mat stack die set, I embossed Silent Night from Happiest of Holiday (PTI), in Sapphire, Eggplant and silver powder. The Mixture looked to pretty to toss, so it was the powder used on the frame.
From there the card told me what it wanted to be like, white embossed pine needles and silver pinecones from PTI's Peaceful Pinecones stamp set.
I sponged aqua mist and winter wisteria over the embossing, and misted it.
A Silver ribbon, an embossed pinecone diecut and a few rhinestones completed the card.
Soft and peaceful, don't you think?

WM Pajama Party Bedtime Story Sketch Challenge

The last of our challenges for Waltzingmouse's PJ party was this sketch.
My card uses the Funky Feathers stamp set.
PTI cardstock,
white and lavender embossing powder.
Used Perfect pearls to give the background feathers some color variation, so hard to see in
the photos.
Limitless Layers ovals dies from PapertreyInk
Flower is a brad from Bazzill Basics.
You can find Waltzingmouse's sketch challenge here:
You'll be blown away by the amazing entries in each challenge!
Great ideas there!

PTI's MIM #130 Heat 'N Bond

TGIM!
Because. MIM is back! Phew! I know, we all had plenty of fill in, but I for one, adore MIM's!
Erin brings out the Heat 'N Bond, and some PTI dies for decorating, well, just about anything fabric!
I make kitchen towels every year for family and friends, so this tutorial was the perfect
'get going' project.
Labor Day is the start of fall, and that signals 'Holiday Season'.
Halloween is right around the corner, folks.
Time to put away seashells and bring out the pumpkins!
(can you tell I'm obsessed the decorating for the seasons?)
PTI has a great die set from the Shape Up Series called Pumpkin Sections.
Used it to cut 2 different quilting cottons, and pieced to form the pumpkin on
a linen fabric.
I usually buy 3 or so yards of it when it's on sale, and sew up the edges to form a towel body.
Then I can decorate them for any holiday.
A strip bound by rick rack and you're done!
Simply Chartreuse stem and craft felt mouth and eyes.
PTI button and twine.
Erin, thank you, your tutorial was a joy!

MFW's TT Honoring Ombre

This week's Tuesday Trigger is Honoring Ombre
Cake anyone?
Let's just make a card out of this photo!
I had a stamp from BLine from a while back,
reminded me of 'presentation', something this photo oozes!
Feathers and sentiment from Waltzingmouse's Fine Feathers.
Inks: Tsukineko Brilliance.
Die cut butterfly from PTI.
Tissue paper sewn to card stock (Thank you, once again, Betsy Veldman!)
Vellum embossed to replicate a glass dome.
Nichole Heady did a tutorial awhile back using Perfect Pearls.
Just the right touch for these feathers. Thank you Nichole.

MFW's Holiday Home Decor Challenge

Moxie Fab World is getting us ready for a busy holiday by several challenges.
Years ago I made tussle mussies for a growing family, until I was muchly blessed with
so many!
Thought this challenge was a way to bring back a handmade ornament popular in Victorian times.
Mine is a peek-a-boo tussie mussie
Started with PTI's Limeaid Ice card stock, and stamped it with Peaceful Pinecones.
Die cut framed out #7 in cork, hand cutting the window in the TM on both sides.
The cork was then misted with a handmade chocolate glaze and applied to a weighter coaster stock.
Just didn't have enough 'stiffness' by itself.
Hung a frosted bell in the window,
closed up the box, and decorated both front and back and top.
Just had to add some of my backyard's 'trash' to the piece! (Sweet little pinecones
are everywhere right now)
I can e-mail a sketch of the pattern, if you'd like.
It's hand cut and scored to fold.
PTI felt die cut from Mistletoe and Holly
Want to play?
Better hurry, challenge ends tomorrow! (9/2).
