12 Kits of Occasions August '18

Hi there! Welcome to August's 12 Kits post.
Our hostess this month is my dear friend, Birgit Norton from Crafting While I Wait,
and she blessed us all with fairies and mermaids and gnomes and...
well, just have a look

I have to lead with my favorite, already in the hands of a granddaughter, who
didn't judge a hill while scootering down a bit too fast.
One broken wrist later, and a trip to ER, she
has to wear a cast for 6 weeks! She's only 9, poor thing.
Birgit's sweet kit came in handy for 'mermaid kisses' from grandma.
PTI Reef Builders and Text & Texture: Ocean, Salt Air: Fauna

Wish you could see the sparkle on this winsome fairy. This also went to my little Noelle,
along with a Fairy cookbook. We love to bake when she comes for a visit.

Lots's of Lindy's Starburst Spray

Isn't she a hoot? A fairy struttin' her stuff! And a cupcake too!

Adore these MFT Magical Dragons, and gave them a royal setting.

I put one of the tiny fairies from the kit in the pumpkin coach, and renamed her 'Cinderella'.
PTI: Bold Borders: Foliage frame

Closeup of her sparkling coach and cast off glass slipper.

A big Thank You Birgit, for a magical kit! Loved every bit, and boy did it come in
handy for a granddaughter with a wounded limb... and saved some
to play with later! Hooray!

Don't dare miss the other designers, and Birgit brought in a guest too,
our friend Kara Lynn from Bright Hope Creations. Truly, Kara's coloring skills are
magical! Can't wait to see what she did with the kit. And all my teammies too!

Grateful for You

Hi and welcome to one more post for Concord and 9th's challenge, Anything Goes.

You know how you visit one friend who leads you to another, and another...
Well that happened to me and I ended up finding a friend hop where there are prizes
being given for comments, and I ran across a favorite, Jessica Frost Ballas.
(By the way, there are many favorites on the list!)
Just had to try a series of techniques I learned while visiting Jessica's blog.

The spray of fall florals is a stamp called Grateful For Everything, (C9).
Sentiment is from their Grateful Dies set.

Here's a short version of Jessica's steps: (she explains in detail)
smoosh colors on watercolor cardstock.
I used Distress Inks: Mustard Seed, Candied Apple, Ripe Persimmon
Using my Misti, stamped the image in Hero Arts' Wet Cement, for a no line
watercolor look.
Then I colored the image loosely with copics.
Back into the Misti, which still had the image in place, and stamped with Versamark.
Like Jessica, I sprinkled on Gold Embossing Tinsel.
I added some Stickles and my die cut sentiment, and mounted onto a
black card base.

I LOVE this technique, and can't wait to do more with it.
Check out Jessica's blog here:

By the way, you might find some new friends going down the hop list!

Thankful for You

It's time for another MIM at PTI, and I don't know how she did it,
but after a smashing Stamp-A-Faire, Lexi came up with a technique
with some bling for all of us who love to play along!
Thank you Lexi, always enjoy your tips!

Lexi calls it 'Glitter Inlays'. Loved playing with my Martha Stewart glitters. Way back
when I started card making, Michaels had the set of multiple colors half off. Couldn't
resist that! The color I used for my Leaf Silhouette dies is Copper.
Background stamped with Text & Texture: Leaves
Frame: Double Up: Rectangles

Give Thanks

Good Monday Morning, hope your week is off to a crafty start.

Playing along with Color Throwdown, and these colors.
Decided to give them a leafy look like the photo, and chose PTI's
Bold Borders: Foliage as a starting point.

I sponge inked a few Catherine Pooler inks onto watercolor paper, spritzed it with water and ran my brush through the colors to blend a bit before cutting out my image.
Also cut my image 4 times with aqua mist to build it up more like a frame.

PTI Stamp-A-Faire '18 Planting Your Garden

Dawn McVey shows us some stenciling and layering as we
'Plant Our Garden'

I first stenciled some leaves made from Turning a New Leaf, (made a stencil with
vellum), and a few berries from Color Pop Autumn.
Die cuts stamped with Farmer's Market Florals, and sentiment
from Color Pop Autumn.

It's been fun watching the live videos. Looks like everyone's had a
good time!

PTI SAF '18 Watering Our Flowers

It's Stamp-A-Faire time at PapertreyInk, and I've set aside the day to
watch live videos and play along at home.

1st card done, is with Betsy Veldman, and Watering my Flowers.
Of course that's a nod to watercoloring, and Betsy  is a master at
technique. Watch her video on PTI's blog for insight and instruction.

Playing with PTI stamps I already have. This one's the poppy from Stemmed
Statements. Single flower was first stamped, then masked, and stamped
twice again. I've used my own pan watercolors, purchased years ago, most are
Windsor Newton.
Sentiment: You Made My Day

One down, several to go! Check back often if you'd like to see more.
SAF is throughout the day, and you have until the 30th to complete projects.

Happy Crafting!

New Every Morning

Hi everyone!
This week's Make it Monday is with Dawn McVey, who show's us how to layer
images over patterns. Say the word, 'layer', and I love it!
Dawn demonstrated her layering magic with 3 bg inks, which gives the image a
different look each time.

Once your stamps are in place in the Misti, it really is easy to do 3 cards.
1st off is this one with snow ink and and Dawn's Cover Up: Hexagons stamp.
I used Dawn's Raspberry Suite sets, combining the floral sets with Cup of Cheer,
a Christmas set I gave a seasonless look to with Gran's Garden & Garden Party.

2nd card's Hexagon stamped with Cocoa Bean.
The tag and card bases were cut from Noted Pinked A2 Vertical Dies.
To give my cup and coffee pot some dimension, I edged them with copics,
G40 & G43, almost a perfect match to Vintage Jadeite.

And the 3rd card inked with a Versa Magic ink called Pumpkin Spice.

Have fun playing along on PTI's blog where you'll find Dawn's video.

All stamps used are from PapertreyInk and if you click on the ones you
like, it'll take you directly to the PTI store.

Happy Crafting!

Grateful

Hi! Glad you stopped by for a visit today. I recently ordered a new set by C9,
called, Grateful For Everything. Couldn't wait to play with it!

I'm playing along with Just Us Girls, where the challenge is Fast Watercolors.
I love all things watercolor, but this was a new one for me. We were directed on
the JUGs challenge to watch Jennifer McGuire's video on youtube. She made
making your watercolor card quick and easy.

Lots of quick inking, spritzing, fussy cutting and some Lindy's Starburst:
Marigold Yellow Orange spray.

Check out Jennifer's video here:  Jennifer McGuire's Fast Watercolors

Have a great day, hope it's full of crafting!

Happy Fall: Create Along With Us

This week at PTI we get to Create Along with their fabulous designers.
It's release week and the cards and projects are amazing! Full of rich new fall
stamps and dies, and as usual, wonderful new ideas.

Michelle Leone's card caught my eye.

One of the newest dies to be released is this one Michelle featured called,
Frame It Out Many Blessings.
Michelle did a few things on her card I cased.

My card uses Shape Shifters Oval 1, and like Michelle, I fussy cut the design to create a
window for my sentiment.
I absolutely love Stitched Florals, with the multi-stamping.
My flowers are from Mum's the Word, and so  is the fall sentiment.
For the added color of Harvest Gold, I water colored the die cut, let it dry, and
then stamp the mum in Honey Nut. That color combo is so Fall-esque!
I tried to keep the rest of Michelle's color scheme, with the exception of the leaves.
Mine are Olive Twist.

Play along all week on the PTI blog. So much inspiration to see!
Happy Crafting!

Good Morning!
So much to see on the Poppystamps blog. HolidayBlog Blitz just ended,
and the design team outdid themselves with inspiration and
project ideas. Be sure to drop by for a visit!

More inspiration is up today with my card featuring 2085 Pinpoint Shaker ornament craft die
and it's helper, 1276 Retro Ornaments craft die. I've also used the sentiment set:
The Poppystamp blog is full of holiday merriment. Go check it out!

MIM with Michelle: Petite Pattern Play

Michelle Leone shows us how to create pattern in our background on this
Monday's tutorial at PTI.

I loved this easy and quick way to make an impact on our cards.
Out came the new Orchid Expressions. I played with the flowers, changing
the colors of the petals. The options are endless!

I think I used every shade of PTI ink! Really easy to stamp with my Misti.

In case you don't know this little trick, here's a way to stamp a bunch of the same images
quickly and perfectly.
Die cut the image.
Place it back into the cut cardstock, held in place with your misti magnets.
Line up your stamp,
And... stamp! Replace with next die cut, and the image is stamped perfectly,
over and over and over.

This was my favorite orchid color combo. First stamped with Orchid Allure,
then Raspberry Fizz. The blend of the 2 inks made this gorgeous plum on the die cut.

A left over piece from Pierced Feature Frames provided the rectangle
and I drew the inside lines with a pencil.

The butterfly from Quilted: Summer reminded me of a mini block print,
and lined up well within my masked off rectangle.

So quick and easy, I did a 2nd card using kraft, and the 'thank you' setntiment.

Such a fun technique! Can't wait to 'plant' more orchids!

Friends, I'm sure you've heard of the horrific fires here in California.
They say 20% of our state is on fire. Our home is in a valley near Yosemite, where
one fire is close and hardly contained.
Our air is so bad, and the heat doesn't help those poor firefighters.
Please pray for containment, relief from the spread of more destruction,
and especially for those heroes on the front lines.
Thank you!
