Joy with the Greetery

2 More 'Joy' cards with the Greetery's new Holiday release.

So much fun playing with the die cut 'joy'. Background created with metallic watercolors.
(Using up some of my 'stash' panels).

Hard to capture the glimmer on this card. Learning to use my new Lightbox is one
more challenge in an already challenging year.
The Greetery's Frosty Corners Die and Poppystamps Ovals Die.

Actually holding this in my left hand, while I snap a picture with the right. This 'hobby'
requires balance as well as acrobatics!

And another hot foiled Joy card. This time framed with Poppystamps' Stitched Rectangles
over The Greetery's Nordic Frames. Pretty good fit, and I loved the detail of one frame
over another.

The Christmas Berries are stamped in pinks this time, topped with the Greetery's bow.

It's hard to move on from these sets from the Greetery, but my desk is full of
more to play with! Stay tuned for more...
Weekend's coming, have a happy one!

A Trio of Joy

A Trio of Joy cards with the Greetery's Joy Hot Foil and stamp and die sets.
Playing with the new Glimmer Hot Foil system is just too much fun!

Christmas Joy began with the Fond of Foliage stamp. It's a big red rubber stamp,
and I selectively inked the stamp with shades of light and dark Oxide inks. Then
sponge inked the panel in red and pink, darker and heavier on the corners.

Joy is hot foiled with copper foil onto PTI's ripe avocado. I've used the Winterberry
Bouquet set before, and love the steps of first stenciling, then stamping the colors.
The 2 thin stitched frames are Poppystamps, and Christmas is the Greetery's
Opposites Attract Holiday. A few Pine Wisp branches too.

I just bought a Lightbox, and learning to use it is a new challenge. It's only 12 x 12", and
I wish I had bought one larger.
Anyway, Hope you enjoyed the first of 3 cards made with the Joy set.

I'll post the other 2 tomorrow.

Thanks for the visit! And I hope you're enjoying cooler weather. We had a
great wet past 2 days. So needed in our dry valley!

It's a Time of Joy

I had some time to play with more of my Greetery order this weekend, and worked with
the Abundant Joy Hot Foil, and it's coordinating die.
The color possibilities are endless, with so many foil colors, and cardstock too.

My Christmas card has the new Curio Attic Ornaments, which are dies, so you can cut
them from any paper, glittered or solid.

The ornaments were first cut from a glitter paper, and then sponged with Oxide ink. I was
pleasantly surprised to see how well the cardstock stayed glittery even with the application
of ink.

I loved how Betsy tucked a pine bough in the corner of one of her cards, and played with
that idea on my card.

The scrip from Opposites Attract was stamped, die cut, and then I added a gold pen
detail on the top edge. (Really wish I hadn't, but it's there, so...)

I did 6 of the hot foil 'JOY' dies, so I'm going to be busy doing some more cards.
Not complaining... it's what I love!

Bake It Merry

Well, it's full on Christmas Card Creating Time, and I have another card ready made from
the Greetery's new Holiday Release to share.

What's merrier than a tray of just baked Christmas cookies?
Together with pot holders, rolling pin and spatula, I was in love with this set
from the sneak peeks!

All elements were arranged and then sprinkled with chunky glitter.

Don't the letters of the word, 'BAKE' look like iced cookies? Love all Betsy's details; the
woodgrain on the rolling pin, stripes on the potholder, even indents on the cookies.

I found some holiday paper at Hobby Lobby, and, as long as time permits, will make
coordinating envelopes. Really easy, and quick with a Memory Keepers Punch Board.

I love doing things in assembly line, so I'm all set up to do 8 of these. The Christmas
music is playing, the craft room is completely in shambles, with tiny pieces every-
where, and I'm in my happy place...
It's the most wonderful time of the year...

The Card Concept: Fall Fun

Fall Fun is the theme at the Card Concept.
It's time for a new challenge, and we bring you this seasonal photo as
inspiration, complete with color swatches!

Warm fall colors and textures, right? That's what inspired me and my card.

The sunflower stamp is an old Deep Red Rubber cling stamp, colored with copics.
The background is The Greetery's all over rubber stamp called Fond of Foliage
Crimped Square die and Autumn stamp also from the Greetery.

Play along for 2 weeks and be sure to add our inspiration photo to your
blog post. And tell us what style you chose for your card.

Christmas Shaker Trio

Christmas Card Greetings my friends!
Don't you love lazy days when nothing's scheduled, and your order from the
Greetery was just waiting to be played with? Honestly, Betsy outdid herself
with her Holiday Release. Among the goodies were all the Hourglass sets. I
set up an assembly line and played all day!

The sweet little cabin in the woods, complete with smoke billowing up was first.
A few tips I'll share with you: I doubled the frame. Found it held up better. And if you're
doing a shaker, 4 cuts of the hourglass allows for movement with die cuts.

A closeup of my sweet little cabin. Hard to see, but every piece is shaded, and there's a
glow (yellow card stock in the windows!

Christmas in the city... oh my, the details! An amazing skyline, a long majestic
tree reaching the entire length of the hourglass, stars and snowflakes... a feast for
the eyes! I went pastel with this one.

The 'Christmas Time embossed vellum is heat resistant. I think I found it online.
This photo shows it's edges, but nearly transparent IRL.
Also used my Poppystamps' Fairy Dust on rooftops and tree limbs.

And finally the manger scene. I kept it simple. Just so special. The sweet little manger
and banner sentiment conveys the true meaning of the joy of the season!

A bit of sparkly added to the elements here too.

The gold embossed banner. And you can see, the gold rubbed frame details.
Honestly, Betsy makes us all look good!

My trio of shakers, and a day of fun in the craft room... is there anything better?

Lots of frames left over! Think I'll spend the day making more...

The Flower Challenge: Birthday Celebration and Use a Shape

I'm so excited to be playing along with a favorite challenge blog, The Flower Challenge,
where they are celebrating their 5th birthday. Along with all the festivities and prizes,
they've asked us to use a shape on our cards.

The shape of my card is the gorgeous Hourglass from the Greetery. I've paired it
with the Greetery's Winterberry Bouquet.

.

The card is a shaker, filled with sweet snowflakes and chunky glitter. The berry set
is a series of stencils and stamps. There's even a mask for for berry bouquet, which
I used over my image before sponge inking the background.

I added some sprigs and a blossom with berries to the front of the hourglass, with
a banner greeting.

The final step was the addition of Nuvo Glimmer Paste.
Happy Birthday Flower Challenge gals!

Play along through the 25th.
Have a great and crafty weekend!

Birthday Cabin

I have a fall card to share today, a birthday card for a friend.

Sitting Pretty is one of my top 10 Greetery sets, and here's why:

This is the view from our family cabin in Shaver Lake. So many of our friends have
enjoyed this sweet scene with me, among them, the recipient of this card. I hope she
enjoys the card as much as I did making it.

I love creating scenes like this, with details and layers. The mountains hold a special
place in my heart. We in California have watched sadly as drought, and forest
mismanagement have led to more and more fires. Our cabin and the neighborhood
were spared, while others were not. The fire crews assigned to Shaver
surrounded our village, and diverted the fire around the town and neighboring
homes and cabins. Never have I been so thankful to so many valiant and
devoted men and women! They even texted many of us with pictures of
our property to let us know we were OK.

If you get a chance, there's a fabulous documented video done by Jeff Aielo from
Facebook's Talk of the Hill, who works for PBS, called:

Jeff and his wife gave us daily reports of the fire's growth and devastation.
They continue to be the voice for those of us who demand action and better
 management of the forests.
