Be Merry

Greetings holiday lovers. This time of year begins a countdown to getting my Christmas
card done.

It took awhile to get my Greetery order this time, and I happily dug right in with
the new Twinkle Background die.  I paired it with the Jumbo Curiosity Teardrop
Ornament and plan. to do several more. Love the effect with Glitter Cardstock from
Memory Box.

Lots of sparkle going on here! How are you enjoying your holiday card making?
It's the most wonderful (and crafty) time of the year!
Also used: The Greetery's Be Merry die, Botanicuts Pine Bough

Inspired By: Melted Snowman

These Inspired By Card Challenge has the most intriguing challenge this week...
take a look

I had to play along, especially with friends on the design team who came up
with the most clever interpretations!

The colors, of course inspired my card, but a melting snowman? I had nothing.
So, instead I used just the head of a new favorite, a Tim Holtz Thinlets die set,
Cool Yule. He looks rather perplexed at having a monocled eye and only a head,
and I love his sassy wide eyed stare!

Inspired By gives us this sketch to use, which I did use, loosely (perfectly admissible!),

the Greetery's Snowflake Soiree set comes with a series of stencils, giving you the
option to change colors with your snowflakes. I didn't really change my colors as
much as use a lighter touch with the B stencil. Betsy even included a stencil that lets you
shade or color below the snowflakes. The wonderful sentiment is the Greetery's Simply
Wonderful.

Had to include the polka dots in the inspiration photo with the dotty bow tie!
Theres a lot of shimmer on my card too, like it's been out in the frosty air.

Well, that's it folks. Think I came close to the inspiration, but if you want to
see some brilliance, check out the designers at:

Christmas Card

Merry Christmas to me! The Greetery's order came super quick, and just couldn't
wait to play with all those amazing new stamps and dies!

The Hoop Wreath and Catching Snowflakes dies are the cutest!
I looked through Betsy's Lookbook to see what all the designers
created, and loved Heather's placement and use of the knit pattern
stencil, and Nordic Frame to anchor her hoop.

My card has a matching envelope, something I sat out to do at the beginning
of the year.

I stamped the single flower, masked it, and then stamped the greenery.
Added a bit of shading on the stamp.
The greetings and lines are from PTI's Pleasing Envelopes.

A few pop up foam dots, and my card is ready to send. I love this set so much,
I plan to do several cards in different colors with different sentiments!
Hope you're enjoying the season of joy.

The Card Concept: Festive Celebrations

It's been awhile since I've made a horizontal fold card. The current Card Concept
Challenge features rich holiday colors (black, white & gold) and I couldn't
resist using the new dies from the Greetery release.

I chose to work with colors rather than actual elements in the photo.
I did use the diamond pattern on one of the candles.

Lots of glitter cutouts on shiny shimmer card stock.

I cut the NOEL 3 times out of black, gold, and copper glitter paper, before gluing it over
the die cutbackground. Like I said, lots of layers! I'm calling this style, Clean and Layered.
 Maybe not so clean?
Have a wonderful week!

The Greetery: Macrame Diamonds Die, Macrame Open Base,
Poppystamps: Festive Noel Die, Christmas Plaid Paper Pack

Peace on Earth

A Transformation Tuesday and Michelle Leone has us transforming an
old feminine card into something with a holiday flare.

My former card was for a MIM challenge, and had decidedly feminine elements.

The re-do card had a gathering of elements with a background of snow from the new
Winter Fox Stamp Set. I love Heather's sweet faced fox, and stylized trees, and enjoyed
stamping him arctic blue.

The Card Concept: Parisian Postal

Good Morning, and welcome to the Card Concept's new challenge,
'Parisian Postal'

'Brown paper packages, tied up with strings..."
Reminded me of an old Stampendous wooden stamp I had, called "Postcard Pair".

A charming duo stamped with Tim Holtz' Distress Ink, and colored with copics.
PTI: Mix & Mat Plaid
Poppystamps: Shiny Snowflakes, Pinpoint Mainstreet Tag
I'd call this card layered collaged, Mix Media. Remember, you can combine the styles.
Play along for 2 weeks!
Happy Holidays, and Happy crafting!

HLS December Watercolor Challenge

Happy December 1st!
And a big 'Happy Holidays' to everyone!
The countdown's on, and I'm here to offer inspiration for HLS
latest Watercolor Challenge.

Our optional twist this month is: Christmas!

HLS: Christmas Joy, has the sweetest freeform tree, which I used for a focal,
stamping it 3 times with Versamark and embossing with white.
Gave it a contemporary flair with pink and lime colors.
Did the same with the bg using the holly stamp from the same set.
Sentiment also from Christmas Joy.
PTI: Berry Wreath Tag Die.
Kuretake Watercolors
Play all month for a chance to win a $20. gc to the HLS store.
Happy Holidays, and Happy Stamping!

Card Concept: Rich Holiday

The Card Concept Challenge has a 'Rich Holiday' theme for you, with this photo:

Nothing says 'holiday' like the red of poinsettias! That inspired me to create
this card, full of the beautiful red holiday flowers.

This set from PapertreyInk truly depicts an elegant poinsettia, especially with the gold
embossed veins. Greenery from PTI's Holiday Greens.

The splatters are from Lindy's Stamp Gang: Burgandy Starburst, and they
shimmer, which is hard to see.

Do you have a poinsettia stamp in your stash? You don't have to use it, any
inspiration from the photo will do. Just choose one of the many styles
the Card Concept has on their blog, and join in the fun. Our challenges run for 2 weeks,
and there's plenty of inspiration and styles from the designers.
Can't wait to see you in the lineup!
Happy Crafting!

Silver White Winters

It's time to concentrate on my stash of Christmas cards, and I'm way behind!
How about you?
HLS Watercolor Challenge has a new inspiration for the month of November,
Anything Goes with a twist TAG. Play along for a chance to win a 20. GC to
shop on  the HLS website.

Here's my card, hopefully it will inspire you to play along.

Background stenciled with watered down inks (PTI) on watercolor paper,
and PTI's snowflake stencil.
Then I die cut the tag PTI's Holiday Tag Along die, out, and also cut 4 more from
Winter Wisteria Cardstock.
Silver White Winters also from PTI, snowflakes watercolored and embossed
multiple times.

If you have waterbased inks, they work fine as a watercolor medium, and
blend beautifully!

Hope you'll play along this month, I'd love to see you create!
Happy Crafting!

Easy breezy! That adorable washi tape was included in the kit.

More sweet pups with their holidays dressings!

Love the bright red and green!

And finally, the only 5 minute card I've ever done!!!

Kim included some fun 2 sided papers, with these adorable images.
I just cut them up, and onto a card base, voila! One cute card done!

NBUS Challenge #2

Darnell from djkardkreations challenges us to create
something with never before used 'schtuff'. (NBUS)
Isn't that just the greatest name for a challenge with a purpose?

Her challenge runs through the month,
with an anything goes theme
or
Christmas done one way
or two.

Had not used my Papertrey cuckoo from Tick Tock,
or
a Waltzingmouse Nordic Winter set ordered during Claire's Christmas sale.
Tick Tock is not a Christmas stamp set, but with a few tweaks
and the right sentiment (Rustic Wreath: PTI), it works.

This is NBUS #2,
be prepared for an onslaught of entrys.
Darnell always has a good story to tell
with fun and humor thrown in,
so settle back with a good beverage and enjoy your visit!
Once again, here's the address:
