The Card Concept: Summertime Fun

 

Hello Crafting friends! It's June 21st, and that means the first day of summer.

The Card Concept has a new challenge, and it's Summertime Fun.

Our photo inspiration has several summer/ocean/sea items for you to

get your crafting juices flowing, as well as color swatches. What is your

favorite? And what style will your card be? 

I would definitely call mine Layered, but clean? Maybe more Mixed Media/Layered.

I used several Lindy's Starburst sprays for a mixed colored sand effect. And 

watercolored the panel of waves.

The Card Concept: By the Sea

 

It's time for a new challenge at the Card Concept, and it's the last one through thee summer.

We take a break, before coming back in the fall. Our theme is, By The Sea.

Cool refreshing sea colors and the glass jar and shells inspired my Layered Theme card.

I loved a card by Kelly Lunceford, who designs for PapertreyInk. She was featuring

the Message In a Bottle set, and her card was wonderful! I used the colors on our 

photo, and added a bit of pink to the shells. 

I love the sentiment sticking out of the bottle!

The Shells and Palms are also from PTI, the sand swatch is an older set, not sure if it's

still available.

The Card Concept: Summer Fun

Summer Fun is the theme at the Card Concept. 

So many nautical element for inspiration!

A whole lot of red white and blue, and lots of sand and sea inspired my Clean and Layered card.

The lantern with sea elements was recreated with PapertreyInk's Cloche Quarters

and Cloche Quarters: Summer. Pierced Oval die cut from striped and dotty paper,

and some real sand for texture. 

Just had to add an anchor embossed onto a Kraft tiny tag (Ahoy)

A Little Sunshine Mends the Soul

I'm back from a week with my daughter, who recently moved

to a town near Disneyland. Yes, I went to Disneyland, yes we went

to the beach, yes, a day shopping in Costa Mesa, and YES, swam 

every day and ate too much!

Catching up with my cardmaking, and watched Lizzie's video on

the PTI blog. She calls it, 'Repeating the Greeting'.

Had to break out the new stamps!

Did a little digging to find a sentiment, and found just what I wanted

in Quilted: Summer.

Popped up a few of the die cuts and shadow stamped the embossed 'Sunshine'.

I'm seriously dreaming of beach days with the grandkids. It was heavenly...

PTI July '18 Blog Hop

It's Blog Hop time at PapertreyInk, and our inspiration photo is a 

joyous splatter of salt sea pattern and a brilliant combo of unexpected color.

From the first sighting of Reef Builders I was hooked! The detailing is amazing and I LOVE each

Let Your Light Shine

MIM this week with Laurie Wilison, showing us how she 

masks her backgrounds. Her video, is full of 

Laurie masking tricks, such as tape to use and how to best 

apply your die cut sentiment.

Make It Monday #250: Masked Backgrounds

I love the effects you can get doing the masking, using color,

arranging the mask to suit your stamps.

I used the Guiding Lights stamp set and masked the front, both for border

and to showcase the light.

What the Doodle: Waves die and stamps.

Laurie added water droplets, didn't think I needed them, so left them out.

Americana and Stormy Sea Inks.

Sponging done with Spring Rain, Aqua Mist, Harvest Gold.

Love the sentiments in this set, especially this one!
