MIM #114 Blown Ink

It's Monday, and that means MIM at Papertrey Ink.
This week Dawn showed us how to blow drops of ink on a page with a straw.
Have to say, did this 4 times before I was satisfied with the results.
I've been thinking fish lately. (We just put in a koi pond!) and
the blowey ink looked a lot like coral.
Maile Belles has a great tutorial on herblog creating lines with versamark and embossing powder.
Love what it does to hi-light edges.
PTI white cardstock and ocean tides sampler, hard to see woodgrain embossed white cardstock,
I found embossing a background as Dawn did,  helps the ink to flow, taking on character and a life of it's own. Kinda free flow formations.
PTI vellum, embossed sentiment from Happiness in Bloom.
Blown ink Fine Linen and Spring Rain.
My fish stamp is Lil Rockfish
I think he looks like he's underwater.
Will try again, really need to control where the ink goes. Not at easy as it looks, but fun!

  3. Such a great design. I like that it actually looks like an ocean scene something I did not accomplish on my cards.

  4. Wonderful card! My first thought was "seaweed", not coral, but then I live on the west coast, where there's lots of seaweed and not much coral ;) your fish looks very happy in his underwater home.

  5. I was distracted by Madame Gateau & forgot to comment here :) - the blown ink technique works perfectly to create the coral - another perfect take on a challenge!
