MIM #153

Played around with my watercolors again today.
It's stormy weather outside, and that means
stuck in the craft room (hooray!)

MIM with Dawn adding embossing to watercolor background.

Just the worst picture, but between the rain (much needed in the central valley, CA) and the wind
not venturing outside.
Thought the mum looked a bit like a nest. Too far a stretch?
Side dp from my stash, sorry don't know where it came from.

PTI Feb. Blog Hop

It's Feb. 25th, and that means Blog Hop at PTI!
The Theme? Sweet Spring!

The weather may not show it, but inside craft rooms we're breaking out the pastels
and signs of renewed life!

Easter will be here before we know. First card is a shaker with the bunny from
Polka Dot Basics #1, and Mini Blooms. There's some glitter that jumped on there too!

Card 2

Yellow and lavender are the first colors that pop up in my yard to signal Spring.

2nd card features a background of Year of the Flowers: Sweet Peas.
Button card is fun to showcase Springy items.
Button Boutique stamp set.
Love to use my stash of trims on cards. Seems to add to the handmade touch.

3rd card is a set  I'm giving my daughter.
The lovely sentiment 'Tickled Pink' expresses shared joy at someone's good news.

Similar design, Feather embossed onto Watercolor Wonder,
but next 3 show the feather done in other pastels, and a card with sheer ribbon.

This one a bit more intense in hue.

Next, with the ribbon.

And finally a larger card made for my aunt.
Once again using a watercolor bg, and one of my favorite PTI sets, Cutting Garden.

Love doing matching envelopes for the special people in my life!

A long post, but tried to keep it as short as I could.
Hop along to see all the wonderful Spring creations with PTI products!

MIM #153

MIM this week with Dawn McVey and a technique she calls, Watercolored Backgrounds
with Heat Embossed Sentiments.
I love watercolors, and I love to emboss, so jumped right in.
Dawn gave us 2 ways to emboss, one with clear and the other with white powder.
I did both. The flower is first clear embossed,
then wet down the paper all around the leaves and flower,
and 'dotted' on the blue watercolor.

When dry, I selectively colored the flower, leaving white space.
Going outside the lines seems artsy to me, one thing fun about watercoloring.
Then I white embossed the sentiment.
Put it on some lined PTI paper, then my card base. (Aqua Mist card stock)
Doodlie-do and Bigger Blooms
PTI Button.
You might have to do this a few times to get the background you like,
but it's worth it! Keep trying, and as Dawn said, you might invest in a couple
of better brushes. Michaels has them on sale once in a while, buy soft bristles for watercoloring.

TSTR Week #207 'Wishy Washy'

Week #207 at The Shabby TeaRoom, and the theme is 'Wishy Washi'

I have to admit, I have too much washi tape that isn't used enough,
so I was happy to apply it to this card.

I was inspired by the banners of washi and created a couple of banners from
Paper Sweeties Celebrate.
Also used Sophie die and stamp paper pieced and copic colored.

This is my last week as Guest Designer for The Shabby Tea Room.
Just have to thank Debbie for the honor, I've loved the past 4 weeks!
How do you like to use washi tape on your projects.

I'd love to see your take on 'Wishy Washi'!

The Card Concept Challenge #4

The Card Concept - Use a Floral Theme

I put my card in the Collage category:
Unrelated elements in a collection
Can be done in any style.

I spent Saturday experiment with creating surface texture.
Stencils, sprays embossing, etc.
Had to laugh at the first few attempts, let's just say, learned that less is more
applies to any 'wet' upon paper!

This card base I liked, and went from there to add my elements.

Stamped flowers from PTI's With All My Heart (bg),
then added fussy cuts from Natural Beauties,
and sentiment from Pedal Pusher.
PTI Cardstocks
Ribbon, twine and sequins complete.

Fusion #4

Time for another Fusion challenge.
I can use the photo or the sketch as inspiration.
Or I can 'fuse' the 2.
I chose the sketch, and used a butterfly theme.

Merry Monday #96

Merry Monday's Christmas blog asks us to use holly on our card.

I loved the vintage feel of our inspiration photo, so I tried to recreate
a Christmas past.

I began with Waltzingmouse's Festive Foliage,
and an antiquing method Heather Nichols showed us one Make it Monday.
By clear embossing an image several times, cracking and inking it, the image
takes on a very vintage look.
I guess I enjoyed it, because I did it several times on this card!

Frame is Memory Box cut from a foil paper.

Tag is an ancient Graphic 45 I picked up at Tuesday Morning one year.

Still time to play!

MIM #152

OK, so who would have thunk to use dye and pigment inks to create design and texture?
Heather Nichols!
Simply genius!
A solid stamp becomes dual coloring fanciful fun!

I'm going through all my stamps to pick another that will work with this technique.
Currently in love with the simple pattern and unique results with such little effort!
Heather, like I said, genius!

Paper Sweeties February Release Rewind

Welcome back to Paper Sweeties February Release.
Let's rewind and recheck the new sets available this month.

Wanted to show more of the teapot die, used together with it's companion, Tea For Two stamp set.
I masked the sentiment, and embossed with white on vellum.
The center medallion is from a new set called Welcome Spring.
Both new stamp sets and teapot die are now in the shop.
And don't forget to use your Frequent Shopper Rewards!

These designers have some projects to show you too!

Paper Sweeties Feb. Release Day

It's the 15th of the month and that means Party Time at Paper Sweeties!
Today's the day the stamp sets and die you've seen on this blog
and other design teammies can be yours.

I'm featuring the fabulous teapot die again today, (love this die!)
but this time masked the inside so I could stamp just the line drawing.
Flower stamps are from last month's release set: Sending Sweet Thoughts.
Copic shading with T2 pen.

My inspiration came from this old porcelain teapot.
My girls and I have shared many a warm pot together when they were in the nest.
Now my granddaughters join me, and have to listen to stories of their
mamas when they were young!

My tag is from a new set released today, called Welcome Spring.
I trimmed off the ribbons on the edge, and stamped the sentiment from Warm Winter Wishes.

For all you loyal Paper Sweeties fans,
there's a new 'Frequent Shopper' Rewards just for you!
Be sure to take advantage to earn rewards!

And be sure to hop around to see what the other designers have for you.

PTI Anniv. Day 10

Day 10 at Papertrey's Anniversary celebration.
And we're to do a card + envelope (special delivery).
Had to do a card for a grandson turning 14! Can't believe that sweet baby boy is going to be
that old.

Pulled out 'Grunge Me', and some fun dies and made it as boyish as a little old grandma that loves frilly lace and flowers can do!
90% Papertrey!
Martha Stewart ebony glitter.

Wishing it was a bit neater, but he'll probably toss it
when the money is removed!

Happy Valentines my Bloggy friends!
