Ashley Cannon Newell challenged us to use our die cuts in non traditional ways.
By cutting them, a frame can be created for a sentiment, or they can simply get more mileage.
Had to go with a Christmas theme, so chose the sweet home from Boards and Beams.
Added a piece of lace to ground the house, kinda looks like snowflakes?
2nd pix shows without the lace.
Would love to hear which you think looks better.
Die cut from Vintage Linen and stamped in Pure poppy,
my 'cut' is to pop open the house and mask and emboss the sentiment,
"Love overflows and joy never ends...",
in silver. Didn't think it popped enough so added some bling.
Tree and wreath in new Limeaid, stamped in Chartruese.

Side view shows the pop-ups
The new dies from Home for the Holidays finished off the card.
All mounted on Ocean tides, framed in Scarlett Jewel.
Pattern paper from Authentique.
Thank you Ashley!
Such a cute card!! What a wonderful idea! xo Evie
ReplyDeleteI just love the idea of your house popping open with that perfect sentiment coming out! You really got creative with this week's challenge. I definitley like the card with the lace better! I didn't see your card on Nichole's website, you should upload it again because everyone should see it!
ReplyDeleteWITH the lace for sure. One of the greatest ideas you've had yet. Absolutely darling idea with the love pouring out of the house, blowing the rooftop off the walls! Love the touch of the rhinestones' perfect placement, too.
ReplyDeleteFun card! I love the way you opened up the house.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool idea to cut the roof off! Great card!
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Austria,

ReplyDeleteHi Nancy. I`d say, the one with the lace looks better. What a cool idea, indeed! Hey ... now you`ve got two fans from Austria :-))
ReplyDeleteThis is a clever and creative way to use the MIM technique. You've told a wonderful story on your card. I agree with the others about the lace; it grounds the house, pulls all of the elements together, and gives the snowman his snow.
ReplyDeleteLove your take on the challenge. Brilliant to have the roof off the house. I am not much of a lace gal, but I do think it really works on this card.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea, Nancy! For sure I love your snowy lace version the best. Fun masking on your sentiment too!
ReplyDeleteAnother one voting for the lace - it really does ground the house, etc. This card is overflowing with love and joy - love the flow of the sentiment, the embossing & bling!
