PTI April '18 Blog Hop

Hi and welcome to PTI's April Blog Hop.

We were given this photo for inspiration.

I loved the linen look, and took the florals for my inspiration.

I used a stamp and spritz technique for my blooms and leaves, adding additional color
for a second stamping with my misti.

It's such fun to hop around and see what we all did with the photo!

PTI October '17 Blog Hop: Capture the Wonder

It's the 25th of the month, and that means, Blog Hop Time at PapertreyInk.
Nichole has challenged us with images from this photo, featuring artist, Adolfo Serra.

I always like to learn about artists I'm not familiar with, so I googled Adolfo Serra,
and found some more of his art.
Among them, this scarlett and grey bird.
The colors inspired this watercolor card,

Psalm 23:2

Every month during release week at PTI, we get to case the design team
and their genius.

As usual, this month's stamps and dies were beautifully showcased,
and it was hard to pick just one.
Dawn McVey hi lighted the soon to be released
Cover Plate: Mountain Majesty with a
 bright rainbow watercolor.
I loved the frame she featured, with it's die cut mountains.

Trying to come near her color blends, and that space for the sentiment
was a challenge.
Here's what I came up with.

Year of the Psalms: June stamped onto a Made With Love tag
(Pinefeather ink)
The frame is Sentiment Splits: Curve Verticle
Tree on the left is from Scene It: Mountain View,
and the stars are from Make It Market Mini Holiday Folk.

I absolutely love the way Betsy has designed the Psalms sets, and will
be sorry to see the year and the psalm releases end.
Proverbs? Just a thought...

Mother

Made a card for my mom, following the tutorial at Papertrey's MIM,
with Laurie Schmidlin, and her very first video.
Laurie did a fabulous job showing us
2 ways to do a watercolor background for our cards.
Confession time, I've done watercolors for years, even
taught watercolors to elementary students, so this is not
new to me, but always learn something playing along with MIM.
Loved doing this card, as it's for a very special mom!

Starting with Ranger Watercolor Cardstock, I taped down my card,
then applied a wash of clear water. Using the Kuretake Pan colors, I
mixed blues, yellows and greens to get the color wash I wanted.
The trick to watercolors, as Laurie said, is to apply lights first,
then layer after or during drying.
I cut the die cover plate from Make It Market: Garden Gild,
and held it over the watercolor card to determine where color should be.
The word, 'Mother' is from an old PTI set, Mother, and sorry to say
it's now in the vault.
Flowers and leaves from Delightful Dahlia Additions.
PTI Inks:
Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Tropical Teal, Green Parakeet.
I colored the rhinestones with copic YG23.
I haven't used rhinestones in so long, lately using sequins, which mail better,
but this card will be hand delivered.

Fabulous

Hi Card Concept fans! Welcome to a new inspiration.

I'm all about the gorgeous intense blooms in this photo.
Added a bit of blue from the boots, and the green grass,
but my 'Classy Elegant' card is filled with bright Spring flowers.

I love the intensity of watercolors with Kuretake pan colors.
First step was to ink The Ton's Peony Crush Cling Background, with
Versamark onto watercolor card stock, and sprinkle the whole card with
Adirondack Lettuce Embossing Powder.
Watercoloring came next. I started with the lighter, paler pink, and when
dry, worked on adding darker, deeper shades, finally ending with the purple.
This technique works as long as you let each layer dry before
adding the next.

'Fabulous' die cut 3 times, with white and Pure Poppy in the middle,
also from the Ton.

A sprinkling of Pink Diamond sequins, also from the Ton,
to add a bit of sparkle.

Framed with PTI's Royal Velvet, and Sweet Blush card stocks.

So excited to see what you create!
And don't forget to check out more beautiful inspiration
by the Card Concept Design Team!
