The Card Concept Floral Spring or Garden Birds

We have a new challenge at The Card Concept, and it's one that you get to choose!
Floral Spring or Garden Birds.

I chose to give you some inspiration from the Garden Birds photo.
It reminded me of a beach house, with rustic wood and sea grass.

My beach scene began from an old Papertrey Ink stamp set called Fence Line Summer.
(I checked and it's still in stock at PTI, on sale!)

I used the colors from the swatches given, and created my card on a watercolor
background that I splotched with reindeers.
My sentiment is also from PTI, called Little Lift Me Ups.

Play for 2 weeks, and remember to add out photo to your post!

Daring to Dream: The Card Concept Challenge

Well, hello there! And welcome to the Card Concept's newest challenge,
Daring to Dream.

Confession time... I had the hardest time with this photo. Why? Too masculine?
Muted colors? No flowers? I finally decided to focus on the globes, (always
loved globes!) and design my own way! That's a hint for you too, folks. Do
what you love, create your own way!

And, I rather like the results!
On water color paper, I smooshed color onto the surface with a stamp block.
It took 3 tries, and this is the one I liked best.

Glorious Globes from PTI haven't seen ink in a while, and I love the sizes in the set.
Simple stamping, and a few pop ups for the books and globes.
In case you can't read it, the sentiment says: 'You will change the world.'
The card is for a brilliant DIL/Geography teacher, who is truly on a path to
change with education.

Play along for two weeks, and remember to add our challenge photo and
pick a style. Choose one of ours or design one of your own.

By the way, mine is Mixed Media (watercolors and inks) and Clean and Layered.

Products used:
PTI: Glorious Globes
The Greetery: All Blessings Flow (greenery sprigs), Crimped Frame Die.
All Altenew Inks
Tim Holtz watercolor card stock

You Are a Masterpiece

Hello Crafty Friends!
Don't you love making a card for no other reason but that you want to?
Going through my ever growing Greetery collection of stamps and dies,
the Macra Made made me smile, so out came the dies.

Pot-Pourri plants and pot, with a background I made a while back.
Nuvo dots

Our church knows I make cards, and has asked if I'd supply cards when needed for
births, get well, encouragement, etc. I had to laugh when they offered to pay me
for them. "No", I said, "I'd love to give you whatever the occasion calls for". With
that purpose on my agenda, I've begun to do a stash of cards that are ready and on hand.

Ah... a purpose to be creative... life is good!

Happy Crafting, my friends!

A Watered Garden

Welcome! I'm excited to be playing along with a new challenge at PTI,
Laurie's Fabulous Favorites.
Laurie started things rolling with her favorite stamp set, and challenged
us to pick ours for a card.
Somewhat like picking a favorite child, but I narrowed it down to about
110, and selected Farmer's Market Florals.

Stamps that warm the heart, that's Farmer's Market Florals. Paired it with
Bold Borders Foliage and Garden of Faith.

We've had a lot of rain so far this year, after a long drought, and it
looks like the roses are ready bud. I know I say it every season,
but spring in our valley is the closest thing to heaven!

A little bit of foam popping, and my card is ready to brighten someone's
winter day.

Laurie mentioned she loves the PTI florals. Me too! And I love the
multi stamping stamps as well.

Now for the best part of this challenge: 100.00 gift certificate!
Play along on the PTI blog!

Transformation Tuesday with Michelle Leone

Hi! Thought I'd play along with PTI's Transformation Tuesday and Michelle Leone,
where we were challenged to take a previous card we liked but wanted to
re-do better.

I was so excited to add PTI's Stitching Garden to my floral stamp sets, and wanted to
see how all the stamps looked inked and assembled. The colors I used were OK,
and the one layer card reminded me of a spring pattern.

Michelle used her original card to springboard a second that used more modern colors
and an eye-catching flower in the center.

Like Michelle, my 2nd remake card uses bolder colors, and a more focalized design.
It's always fun to improve and redo. There's always ways to tweek certain elements,
such as colors or design.

Have a card you'd like to transform?
Play along with Michelle and Transformation Tuesday on the PTI Blog.

Hope you had a great weekend and look forward to lots of crafting!

My links for the products I used take you to the PTI store.

Done in Love

Dies only on Day 7 of PTI's Anniversary celebration.
No stamps!

Well that's easy. Went right to my cover plates for Paper Clippings: Done in Love.

This came together quickly, so I did another, using the cover plate
to create a stencil.

Since it's the same die, used 2 ways, and since Darnell has a new 'Two-Fer' challenge,
I'm playing over there too!

Now while both cards could be used for Valentines, one is definitely a Valentine 'Love' card,
while the other is more of congratulations card (dark background)
you give for a job well done. Or it could be an encouragement card.

Keep up the challenges, Darnell. We love them!

Hope your week is a 'crafty' one! The best kind!

Psalm 23:2

Every month during release week at PTI, we get to case the design team
and their genius.

As usual, this month's stamps and dies were beautifully showcased,
and it was hard to pick just one.
Dawn McVey hi lighted the soon to be released
Cover Plate: Mountain Majesty with a
 bright rainbow watercolor.
I loved the frame she featured, with it's die cut mountains.

Trying to come near her color blends, and that space for the sentiment
was a challenge.
Here's what I came up with.

Year of the Psalms: June stamped onto a Made With Love tag
(Pinefeather ink)
The frame is Sentiment Splits: Curve Verticle
Tree on the left is from Scene It: Mountain View,
and the stars are from Make It Market Mini Holiday Folk.

I absolutely love the way Betsy has designed the Psalms sets, and will
be sorry to see the year and the psalm releases end.
Proverbs? Just a thought...

Let Your Light Shine

MIM this week with Laurie Wilison, showing us how she
masks her backgrounds. Her video, is full of
Laurie masking tricks, such as tape to use and how to best
apply your die cut sentiment.

See it here:

I love the effects you can get doing the masking, using color,
arranging the mask to suit your stamps.

I used the Guiding Lights stamp set and masked the front, both for border
and to showcase the light.
What the Doodle: Waves die and stamps.
Laurie added water droplets, didn't think I needed them, so left them out.
Americana and Stormy Sea Inks.
Sponging done with Spring Rain, Aqua Mist, Harvest Gold.
Love the sentiments in this set, especially this one!
