The Flower Challenge: #71 Circle/Circles

Hi and welcome to August! We have a new challenge on The Flower Challenge Blog.
Use a circle or circles with your main star, flower.

I needed a sympathy card for a friend who lost her mother recently, and thought of
encircling my sentiment (The Greetery) with a circle.

This is one of my favorite circles to use, it's by Altenew and it's called: Mid Century
Frame Die.

The card also features one of my old time favorite techniques, clear embossing
on a dark card stock. I stamped Altenew's Dot Art on the corners of my 3 3/4 x 5" panel
and glued it to a panel of silver cardstock cut just a hair bigger. That panel was
added to my card base.

The beautiful rose is also Altenew, Open Bloom 3D Die Set.

I began with die cutting the flower from watercolor card stock, and lightly colored it
with my watercolors. Didn't like it, and went over the pieces with Distressed Oxide ink.
The slight texture of the pieces looked like felt when I assembled the flower.
Loved the result!
Don't you love happy accidents?

Hope you have some ideas for adding circles to your cards, and play along
with our latest challenge. We love to see your creative genius!

Have a wonderful, crafty week!

  1. Gorgeous, Nancy! I can actually see the 'felt' look on the screen and the colors of the flower are so eye catching against that dark blue background. The silver frame was the perfect circle accent.

  4. Beautiful contrasts in texture and color! The dark card stock with silver highlights is striking. I've also noticed that DO inks creates a felt appearance when water coloring as opposed to DIs. Vikki H
