The Flower Challenge Reminder #94 - Be Inspired by the Colors

 

Hi and welcome to a reminder that there's a flower challenge going  on!

Lots of  ideas for making a card using our colors. You must use at least

3 of the colors, and flowers must be your main theme.

I chose The Greetery's Sunflowers and added an autumn sentiment. 

Let's see  what you come up with. Challenge ends on the 25th.

Sweet as Honey with the Greetery

 

FINALLY had a chance to play with the Greetery's newest release. It's been the

busiest summer, and there's no end in sight. Won't bore with all the details, but...

have to say, I relish any time I can enjoy in the craft cave!

Sweet and Sunny is a collection of summer's best, including a honey jar and stir

stick. We have had bee hives on the farm,  and they're a joy from start to finish.

Bees are essential for fruit trees, pollinating varieties for best harvest.

Have you ever eaten a honeycomb? We gather them up at the end of summer and

keep them throughout the year. 

My honey jar has a double cloth skirt, and the stir stick has a bit of pencil shading.

So much sweetness in this card, I decided to do a few more with different Buzz 

Worthy sentiments.

Kelly Lunceford added Nuvo drops to her stir stick, which I thought adorable.

No Nuvo drops in honey color, so I created my own, and I'll share it with you.

Recipe for dripping honey: Glossy Accents + Re-Inker

I used 1 drop Altenew's Butternut. Stir into a plastic throw away cup. 

I poured it onto the stir stick and moved the stick around for a minute until

the 'honey stayed where I wanted it. then, be sure to let it dry.

Fresh For You

Just finished another week of grands, before they start school. 3 under the age of 10 and

 3 in their teens. It's been nonstop, from morning 'till night. 

But today was goodby in the morning, and time to play in the craft cave! Yay!

It's my first time to play with Betsy's mason jar, and sunflower dies. I wasn't able to

get the jar on release night, and Betsy let me know when it was restocked, so I 

couldn't wait to order it! I've just drooled over each and every card 

all of you have done!

The sunflowers all began cut from white cardstock and Copic colored. I LOVE how full of

dimension they become when layered together!

Next came the much waited for jar... what color to make my mason jar?

The jar is a 3 step process of stamping, and I decided to try to give my new treasure an

 inking from 3 different companies, PTI, Catherine Pooler and Altenew.

 I also left off the firststep on a few to create a clearer jar in each color way.

 It's a great way to spend an afternoon,

 just a favorite stamp set, a misti, and colorful inks! (you can't see it, but each color is

 listed on the back of each stamped jar). I also drew in a few stems with colored pencils.

The jar is actually the brighter pink in the first picture.

The sunflowers closeup, and you can see all the layers, and color possibilities. 

Blue sunflowers? Why not!

Have to say, the new Crimped Frame die is a favorite. I made my background paper 

from Poppystamps: Picnic Plaid, an all over stamp. 

It helps to have a juicy ink pad for all over 

coverage. The pink is CP It's A Girl, and the greens are CP Melon Ice and 

Altenew Limeaid.

With the exception of laundry, I have no other plans for the rest of the day~ Bliss!

Altenew's June challenge: Friends

Altenew's June Challenge has Virginia Lu and this inspiration photo.

Now, I have to admit, this was a stretch for me. The colors didn't inspire, in

fact I almost didn't come up with anything. But Virginia's card was so beautiful,

and I always love a challenge. And then my Altenew order came...

Sunflower Daisy is a multi-stamp and Die set, and was just what I needed to get

creative juices flowing.

I arranged my large and small blooms in a vase from Versatile Vases. 1st stamped with Olive,

then colored with pencils. I penciled in the stems as well.

Blessed Autumn card

Dawn McVey has a video that captured my card making heart, on

Nichole's blog. MIM this week celebrates mixing the PTI Florals.

Hooray! I love all things floral, and ALL the florals at Papertrey.

Time to pull out the fall stamp sets. And with Dawn's advice on 'how to', 

combine a few and celebrate this time of year!

I have to tell you, I was late ordering Beautiful Berries: Autumn, just received it a few days ago.

But like all the sets that shine a light on the beauty of this season, I'm won over.

As Dawn advised, I collected several of my Autumn stamps, deciding which ones to combine.

Twig Wreath helped to 'ground' the different sets. 

Simple Sunflower hasn't seen ink in a while, but I liked the size with the berry branch.

Also liked the look of elements in Paper Clippings: Thankful For You Details.

My sentiment is from Inspired: Blessed

Hi, playing along (again!) with Cas Watercolour Challenge.

Bonnie and Loll have given us the theme, 'Autumn', 

for the month of October.

Sunflowers are in full bloom everywhere right now, 

gorgeous reminders of fall sunshine. I chose the lined drawn sunflower

 from PTI's Botanical Blocks.

Sharing a couple of techniques with you.

First, to color onto dark card stock: painted on bleach 

within the embossed image,

When dry, watercolored with Zig pens.

Background dry embossed with PTI's Bloom Builder's die.

Then spritzed with water, and colored randomly with watercolors.

Flicked Terracotta Tile and Ripe Avocado Inks, (PTI), after the 

background was dry.

I think it was Heather Nichols that used the bleach technique for a

PTI Make It Monday.

I love doing it! Allows for coloring on a dark card stock,

such as the Enchanted Evening I used.
